Raleigh is making great progress!!! When he first came they couldn’t walk him without him loosing his mind. Now walks with us are peaceful and uneventful 😄.

The after walk nap hits the hardest 😂. This cute girl has been busy learning how to be calm around new people, how to face her fears of cars and how to walk nicely on the leash.
The after training nap isn’t just to recharge it also helps everything sink in. It’s always a great idea to kennel your dog or do place after a good learning session to give them time to absorb every they learned.

These two girls were in one of the very first groups of dog I trained in Utah back in 2019.It’s crazy to look back at how much has changed but also what remains the same. Sure some of our training has changed but it is crazy to see that what worked for us back then has worked for hundreds of dogs since then.

Welcome Raleigh! He’s a 6 year old mini Aussie that has a lot of anxiety, reactivity, and other behaviors that his owner is looking forward to fixing.

Raleigh lives in a constant state of fight and/or flight when he’s on a walk. He was attacked by a German Shepard when he was younger, but that isn’t the only reason he struggles with these behaviors. His genetics play a huge role in his personality, but it is amplified by the (until now), lack of structure and common misconceptions about how to address this behavior.

Dogs like Raleigh can’t just chill 100% of the time. They want and will find a job to do. When they are allowed to sleep in your bed without the right amount of structure elsewhere, you put yourself at the same level as them. They stop viewing you as their leader, and start not becoming more fight/flight minded, they also stop trusting you to advocate for them.

We taught Raleigh place because it’s one of the fastest ways to introduce structure and start rewriting his mental state. Being on place prevents him from walking around the house doing whatever he wants, including going to the window and reacting at other dogs/people. When he’s off of place, he’s in his kennel when unsupervised (which becomes his safe/decompressing area), and he’s taught to walk in a proper heel. We’ll have more videos breaking down the benefits of the kennel, heel, recall, and teaching your dog to listen to you even in high distraction environments.

We have been blessed to have lived in Hawaii and worked with all of the amazing clients and their dogs for the past couple of years. We made lifelong friends, and while we are sad to go, we are excited for this next chapter.

With the addition of our son, we realized that Hawaii is unfortunately too expensive for us to acquire a home suitable to both raise our new family, and continue training dogs. We absolutely plan on maintaining a presence in Hawaii, but we are excited to return to Utah and the opportunities that await!

These two cuties are looking for their forever homes!

They will be great family dogs!

The black and tan boy will be around 15-25 lbs and the girl will be 20-35 lbs.

They are both bernedoodle puppies.

Sometimes that means advocating against your relatives, your friends, and even against your dog by reminding them of who they are now if they start to slip.

Why do we love place so much???

This is a new concept to a lot of people, and many people ask “you make them stay on there for hours”? YES… WE DO! Why?

Because it gives them a job to do, and it is great for calming their mental state. Many of you work an office job, and while it’s not physically demanding… you are exhausted at the end of it! For dogs, it helps them to remember calm in the house is the default. But most importantly, it does not leave them to fill other roles in your house that they think are left void.

Li’i here is extremely reactive and aggressive to people and dogs. Not exactly the kind of behavior you’d want from the person charged with leading your household right? So why let your dog do it? Many people try to justify reactivity and aggression as “just being protective”. Unless properly trained in protection work, your dog is just being an a$$ that will end up biting a relative, friend, or maintenance worker/delivery person before they defended your house from an actual intruder.

When you let your dog do whatever it wants as the default, it’s no wonder they won’t listen to you when you try to ask them to do anything when it really matters. Our dogs are given a job for most of the day. We include times to play and give them affection, and yes we do let them just wander around at times too… but they listen when given a command and we can take them out in public and have the same level of obedience.

When your dogs first come home from our program, you need to make your dog EARN the right to go for a walk, go to the store, beach, park etc… They need to EARN the affection and freedom.

Utilize place, as many of our owners have found they LOVE this command. It’s very helpful when you’ve got friends, family, or even just your kids and you need to focus on them without worrying about what your dog is going to do. The most successful clients we’ve had even after a couple years since we’ve trained their dog, are still utilizing place in the home.

These are the biggest reasons we have seen, but it is not limited to just this.

Remember that your dog has had its entire life so far to practice unwanted behaviors! 3-6 weeks with us is enough time to lay the foundation for the wanted behaviors and show you that it is possible, but it will not stay that way if you don’t follow through.

If you are happy with the progress your dog has made, even if you’re not holding it to the same standard we did, THATS OKAY!! This post isn’t for you and we are happy we made a difference.

We encourage constant communication with us as we know you will have questions and setbacks as you go. But if we tell you why it’s happening and how to fix it, and you don’t listen, our answer isn’t going to change to what you want to hear… no matter how many times you ask.

These boys had a great day at the beach! 🏖️
We worked on all of their obedience and had some time relaxing on the sand.
They are doing so good! Whoever said old dogs can’t learn new tricks never met Charlie and Cody 😊They are both around 10 years old and have made so much progress. Before, they were extremely reactive on the walks and in the house. Now walking is a breeze! We can take them anywhere without having to worry about them barking or pulling.
