"Stihl The One"
This Stihl MS170 chainsaw was dropped off with a bogging issue by a family member of its owner.

After a good inspection, the reasons behind its condition were made apparent.
The spark plug was fouled. The air filter was missing (which lead to a more serious problem). When the carburetor was disassembled there were pieces of saw dust inside the metering chamber (caused by the previous). The spark plug boot was torn. Finally, the spark arrester was caked with carbon and unburned oil.

Following a thorough bath in degreaser, the carb was cleaned and overhauled, a new spark plug, spark plug boot, and spark plug terminal fitted, a new air filter installed, and the spark arrester cleaned and reinstalled.

After topping off the chain oil and 50:1 fuel mix, the saw roared to life with minimal effort and screamed to high speed very quickly!

Hopefully she's "Stihl The One" once she's back home!

Always a blessing to help out family! My aunty's pressure washer was spared from the scrap barrel after the relief valve on the pump got damaged. The replacement pump finally arrived today and after securing a few bolts, she's back in action! came through with the replacement pump! Check them out! They carry a ton of OEM parts and they're also a great source for parts diagrams and other useful information! Mahalo, !

This Echo WP-1000 mini water pump is on the bench this week. Its carburetor had a bad metering diaphragm which prevented it from running. It came in with a new air filter and relatively new spark plug installed by the owner so I only had to change the fuel filter and fuel hoses. The powerhead is now running and I'll post an update once the whole machine is reassembled (I need to replace a bunch of corroded fasteners and the hardware store was closed today) hopefully tomorrow! @ North Shore Mower Co.

The vacuum cleaner simulates a running engine. The slide is held down under spring pressure. As the throttle plate opens, the air rushing past the throttle plate creates a vacuum behind the slide's diaphragm (located under the red cover in the last post) thereby pulling the slide up. Seems this carb is functioning as intended!

It's nice to see familiar equipment. This Echo SRM-225 belongs to my in-laws. I remember the day we bought it at Home Depot back in 2014. It replaced a Craftsman unit that took a dump and has been running strong ever since.

Until now, the unit hasn't had any maintenance other than being cleaned after each use. The fuel tank's vent hose developed a crack in it and was leaking fuel all over the place. Needless to say that's a recipe for disaster!

Today, I replaced all of the fuel hoses with new, quality hoses from . The purge hose was replaced with a new Tygon hose (also from Rotary). Since I dismounted the fuel tank, I gave it a good cleaning before re-installing the hose cluster an remounting the tank. While I was at it, I threw in a new primer bulb and spark plug.

I own the same exact model of weedeater and since both my unit and this are close in age, I just might tackle mine next. I just may do a video on the entire process. Stay tuned!

Just wrapped up 2 Complete 2T services on these two Stihl trimmers. On the left, an FS250R (2T), on the right, an FS130R (2T/4T hybrid). Both came in with the same issue: bogs then dies suddenly. The FS250 was just at another shop. Upon inspection, I found the spark plug was loosely installed and fouled. The air filter was also dirty. At that point, I decided to perform a Complete Serivce. The same for the FS150 (fouled plug, dirty air filter). Both machines were caked with dirt. I removed their fuel tanks, air cleaners, and carburetors and gave them a good scrubbing before reassembling.

At my shop, a complete service on these 2T and 2T/4T hybrids consists of replacing air and fuel filters and the spark plug. I'll check the valve adjustment on the 2T/4T hybrids. I'll also clean dirt and debris out of the cooling fins and around the carb and fuel tank. The spark arrestor is also check and cleaned if needed.

I definitely am my grandpa's grandson! My late grandpa used to tow his boat and random trailers around with a lawn tractor. Who knew that 20 years later, I'd also be pulling trailers with my lawn tractor!
We used the Craftsman T2500 and my aunty's trailer to move my brother's dog's new kennel and dog house into place. Our former neighbors from across the way left them for our dog.
