🌊🐾 Things are getting a little fishy in the best way…

Meet Minnow, Mola, and Guppy—three Beluga babies making a splash at the clinic with their black-speckled coats and maximum cuteness currents. 🖤

Arryn bravely went “overboard” holding all three at once (no life jacket required, just pure determination and puppy love).

These little sea-themed sweeties are residents of Hub City Humane Society, and they—and their siblings—will be up for adoption soon.

Warning: you may find yourself swept away. 🐶💙

💔

Some of the hardest parts of animal rescue are the moments no one ever sees.

People see us when we have to say “we’re full.” They see the posts asking for fosters, donations, and adopters. Sometimes we see disappointment or frustration when we can’t take in one more animal.

What they don’t see are the tears after everyone has gone home. They don’t see the volunteers and staff sitting on the floor with a tiny puppy, hoping medicine and love will be enough. They don’t see the heartbreak that comes when, despite every effort, we lose one.

This week has been heavy.

The loss of even one puppy leaves a hole. It makes us question ourselves, replay every decision, and carry a sadness that follows us long after the lights are turned off at the shelter.

But then someone shows up with a bag of puppy food. A family chooses adoption. A foster says, “I can take one.” A volunteer spends their Saturday cleaning kennels and giving belly rubs.

Those moments matter more than you know.

Your kindness doesn’t erase the hard days, but it helps carry the weight of them. It reminds us why we keep going, even when our hearts are hurting.

So please, keep showing up. Keep adopting. Keep fostering. Keep donating. Keep sharing our posts. Keep believing that these lives are worth fighting for.

Because they are. Every single one of them. ❤️

🐹 The Great Pepper Standoff of 2026 🐹

Yesterday, Oreo the guinea pig found himself in a battle of wills with a mighty red pepper.

The rules were simple:
🌶️ Pepper sits on the table.
🐹 Oreo stares suspiciously.
🌶️ Pepper remains motionless.
🐹 Oreo remains unconvinced.

For several intense moments, neither side blinked. Neither side backed down. Veterinary staff gathered in awe as the showdown reached legendary status.

Then, just when everyone thought the pepper might win… Oreo took a tiny nibble.

Victory was his. 🏆

No matter how fierce the competition, Oreo always reminds us that courage comes in the smallest packages. Thank you, Oreo, for brightening our day with your adorable determination and tiny-but-mighty attitude! ❤️

Chicken strutted into the clinic for a wellness visit with Dr. Terrebonne, looking equal parts adorable and suspicious of the whole situation. 😅

Despite those “I know you’re about to check my temperature” eyes, Chicken was a perfect patient from start to finish. After a thorough exam, plenty of treats, and a few extra ear scratches, this little superstar earned an A+ for bravery.

We love watching our patients grow and stay healthy, and Chicken brought a little extra sunshine to our day this week. ❤️🐶

Thank you for trusting us with your furry family members, Chicken—we can’t wait to see you again (even if you’re not quite as excited about the checkups as we are)! 🩺✨

🐾 Indoor vs. Outdoor Cats & Why Microchips Matter 🐾

Whether your cat lives indoors, goes outside, or enjoys a mix of both, every lifestyle comes with its own benefits and risks.

🏠 Indoor cats are generally less exposed to accidents, predators, and disease.
🌿 Outdoor or indoor/outdoor cats may get more enrichment, but have higher chances of getting lost or injured.

🔎 No matter their lifestyle, one thing is essential: microchipping.

Collars and tags can fall off, but a microchip is permanent ID that greatly increases the chance of a lost pet being reunited with their family when scanned at a vet clinic or shelter.

❤️ It’s a simple step that adds a lifetime of protection.

Is your cat microchipped? Let us know below! 🐱👇🐾

🌭 Dachshund Fun Fact!

Despite their tiny legs, dachshunds were bred to be hunting dogs! They’re known for being brave, stubborn, and incredibly determined—which explains why they refuse to come inside after one quick potty break. 😂🐾

What’s the funniest “big dog attitude in a little dog body” moment you’ve had with your dog?

🐾 Different Pets, Different Plans—Same Goal: Protection! 🐾

Cindy and Maggie may have different prevention routines, but they're both protected from some of the most common parasites we see here in Mississippi. ❤️

Today, Cindy received her Bravecto Quantum and ProHeart 12, giving her long-lasting protection against fleas, ticks, and heartworms with just 2 injections.

Meanwhile, Maggie is rocking her monthly Credelio Quattro, an all-in-one option that protects against fleas, ticks, heartworms, and intestinal parasites.

So which one is better? The answer is simple: the one that works for you and your pet!

Whether you prefer long-acting injections or monthly chewables, the most important thing is keeping your pet protected year-round. Heartworms, fleas, ticks, and intestinal parasites don't take months off—and neither should prevention.

Not sure which option is right for your pet? We'd be happy to help you find the best fit for your lifestyle and your furry family member. 🐾❤️

🩺✂️ Dr. Ebers has been busy sharpening her surgical skills!

Last week she attended a packed, hands-on surgical skills workshop focused on advanced procedures and the latest techniques in veterinary surgery. Topics included:

• Salivary gland removal
• TECA-LBO (advanced ear surgery)
• Skin flap techniques for large masses and wounds
• Laryngeal tie-backs for laryngeal paralysis
• Updated approaches to a**l gland removal
• Perineal urethrostomy (PU)
• Scrotal urethrostomy (SU)
• GDV surgery and gastropexy (bloat prevention)
• Splenectomy procedures

Veterinary medicine is constantly evolving, and opportunities like this allow us to bring new knowledge, refined techniques, and improved outcomes back to the pets we care for every day.

We are proud of Dr. Ebers’ commitment to lifelong learning and providing the highest level of surgical care to our community. ❤️

🐾 Pet owners: If your pet needed a major surgery, what would be your biggest question for the surgeon beforehand? Drop it in the comments! Dr. Ebers may answer a few throughout the week. 👇🏻🐶🐱

On 5/20, our team took a step away from the daily chaos of veterinary medicine and spent time focusing on improving the patient care we offer. 💙

During our workshop on building a high performing team, we talked about communication, accountability, trust, teamwork, and what it takes to create an environment where both our staff AND our patients can thrive. We discussed our goals, our strengths, areas we want to improve, and how we can continue supporting one another better every day.

To wrap up the workshop, we created this painting together using paint-filled balloons 🎈🎨 — and honestly, it turned out to be the perfect representation of our team. A little messy, a lot of fun, and very unique!

We’re grateful for the time to sit down, reflect, learn, and grow as a team. The stronger we are together, the better care we can provide to the pets and people who trust us every day. 🐾

What do you think of our masterpiece?
