We were not planning on having a garden this year especially with Jays surgery in a few weeks. One of our volunteers took it upon themselves to til and w**d our entire garden. One of my personal favorite things to do is to tend to a garden. There is just something so therapeutic about keeping a garden. We are so extremely thankful that he took the time to do this. Now I can use my new pressure cooker this year and we will have fresh veggies ans fruit this winter. It truly is the little things in life.

We have farm fresh eggs! $4 per dozen. Message us if interested.

UPDATE:
Jay had his first successful surgery last week at Cleveland Clinic. In Order to have future surgeries they had to fix his Zenkers Diverticulum. He stayed overnight and was discharged the next day after he passed his swallow study. He did not have any pain. He was on the tractor last week moving dirt out of pig area and adding new gravel/dirt back into the area. Other than being a tad HANGRY over being on liquids the last week, he is doing well. We will be meeting again with his team on May 27th for the next steps. We are feeling positive and keep moving forward. We are working on finishing up the pond and just had a tree decide to fall into it..lol and hopefully we can get it cleaned up and everything planted this weekend. As for our critters all are doing well and I am finding that I can manage quite well the crew we have. We have pigs and birds. We miss our other critters alot but we know this is what is best for now. We will keep everyone updated moving forward and appreciate your continued support.
We are actively looking into a few large pools for the piggies that do not like to wander into the pastures either due to age or just too scared to venture out. Stay tuned as we figure out what the best pools will be. With Penelope that will max out around 600 lbs we need something that will last. She threw around our lil pools like toys lol!! What a silly girl!!!!

Today was a very difficult day as we said goodbye to our Rex. Hoofs and Heart came out for a third attempt to move Rex to their rescue. This time coming with reinforcements and trainers to help make this transition easier for Rex. Although this was a very difficult decision to make we know this was a decision that was needed. We have had some people ask, "can't you just keep him", "he doesn't want to leave your farm". He didn't want to leave and we also did not want him to go either. We went back and forth with how can we keep him and continue to make sure he has everything that he needs on a daily basis to keep him happy, healthy, and feeling loved. At the end of the day, we realized with him staying here that was a very selfish thing to do on our part, not only do we not know what the future holds, we also know with jays surgeries, growing medical bills, and jay being out of work while he recovers, we could not provide the care he needs financially. Every year we do get a wonderful donation and have been extremely blessed by this, unfortunately with this past winter being as cold as it was we had to get alot more feed, hay, and straw to keep our animals healthy. So the decision was made that he would go to an organization that specializes in big beautiful pasture puppys like himself. Our goal the next few months is jay resting from each surgery and focusing on the animals that are staying here with us. We definitely are not saying this is the end of our rescue mission just a pause for now to make sure everyone has only the best attention, love, and care from us. We can't thank Robin and Randy enough and the amazing team that came along with them. It really is a beautiful thing to meet and get to know such an amazing group of people with the biggest hearts. As for the mirror in the picture below. This was their third time coming to attempt to get Rex. They tried waiting him out, guiding him in trailer, treats, and even a mare. None of that worked until the trainer realized how much Rex admires himself in our chicken coop windows. So what did we do, we put a mirror in the trailer so he could admire himself as they struggled to get him in. Oh Rex we certainly will miss your sweet sassy self and we can be happy for you that you will be loved and have lots of new friends....maybe even a BIG MIRROR so you continue to LOVE YOURSELF!
Thank you for your continued support of our lil rescue. We appreciate all of your kind words.

Its been a busy day over here. The boys worked on the pond which is reshaped and we will be filling this week. We reshaped the pigs slope so they can easily get in and out. I worked on spring cleaning the barn but we made sure we had some fun breaks with our grandkids. Trying to get as much done before jays surgeries start. The first one is scheduled for May 18th. We are all so tired but in a good way.

We are Ohio bound. We have been waiting for this appointment forever! Heading to Cleveland Clinic a day early so jay can prep for his appointment tomorrow. Prepping is not the most fun but has to be done. We are feeling hopeful that we will get some answers and a direction on what needs to happen next. Jay is very ready to not be in pain. He is in constant pain daily with his back and belly. He never complains and unfortunately is learning to live with it. Hopefully that will change with future surgeries. We are feeling extremely blessed that there is a center that specializes in Familial Adenomatus Polyposis and can also educate us on how to live with this diagnosis as a patient and caregiver.
To us this is just another curve in this journey of live together. We have been through a lifetime of living in the 6 plus years that we have been together. We know we have this and we r so thankful for family and friends, not to mention our awesome volunteers and our rescue families that have come forward to help us. We feel so much better knowing that they are in good hands. We still have some more animals leaving next week and we will be trying again with round 2 for Rex (our horse). We had Hoof and Heart of Southern Michigan come out yesterday trying to load sweet and sassy Rex into the trailer and let me tell you, he won. After I put him back in the pasture he took off running and flipping around like,"ha ha...I won, suckers!" So on Tues the rescue returns again with a larger trailer that he can step up into. We love him so much and his spiciness. We just know with upcoming surgeries and medical expenses, we will not be able to fully care for him like he deserves. They specialize in pasture puppys like Rex and he will be spoiled with them. We can't thank Randy and Robin enough for their big big hearts to take on so many beautiful horses.
Then next weekend we have 7 of our pigs go to another wonderful rescue. Seeded Faith Farm Rescue have been friends with us long before we were a rescue and we look up to them and all they do for the voiceless. Not only that, Melissa has the biggest heart and all of her special needs children have a special job that they do. Her children are all adopted and so so sweet. She not only encouraged us but mentored us through the rescue process. I can never thank her enough.
Not to mention some new rescue friends Life Align Recovery Ranch that came forward to offer to help transport 7 pigs to Melissa's rescue for us. Lindsey has such a beautiful big heart and we r so extremely blessed for her kindness and willingness to help us even though she is extremely busy herself. We connected after she came across some of our adoption posts for some of pur animals a few years ago. Everyone needs to check their ranch out. They focus on meeting people where they are at and walk with them through their recovery from addiction, trauma etc..People truly experience peace and rediscover themselves while in a place where there is no judgement only acceptance. Such an awesome program!
We are so so thankful for each and everyone of them and we are hoping we can pay it forward as jay recovers. We also want to thank our friends and family that pops over to help, listens to me complain, cry etc....thank you for always being there you know who you are! Stay tuned as we continue this journey.

We are incredibly thankful for wonderful people to come forward and offer their support during this time. This has not been easy but we know it is what our animals deserve. We don't know what the future holds yet but we are staying optimistic. We have found loving homes for most of the animals. We are keeping half our pigs, 2 sheep- possibly, and birds. This month we will be saying goodbye to some pretty amazing four legged friends. We can rest easy knowing that they will be going to wonderful homes. For now, we r focusing on figuring this new diagnosis out and seeing how it will effect Jay physically and what it looks like financially. Once we know more, we will share our plans moving forward. For now...we are operating as a sanctuary for our remaining sweeties. Our doors are closed for animals but they are always open for the community. Just reach out via text before you want to visit. As far as our volunteers, they know what to do and are always welcomed. We have some pretty fantastic guys that are some of the kindest individuals. We will continue to take in new volunteers and I will be busy slowing down focusing on my husband and our animals here. Our appointment to Cleveland Clinic moved from last Wednesday to April 20th. That way he can see all of his specialists in one day. We will update u after this appointment. Thank u everyone, you truly are what community is all about. Hugs from us here.
