Why this dog is being offered to rescue after TWELVE unprovoked bites is insane.
The dog is fearful and reactive, most likely the product of poor genetics with everyone breeding everything in order to make a quick buck.
Here's the thing, you can have someone sign all the waivers in the world, ultimately you will be held responsible when adopting, releasing whatever you want to call it with prior knowledge of a dog's history.
So would you prefer a quiet humane euthanasia or a dog that is dumped, beaten to death, etc while suffering the demons in his head trying to avoid everything that makes him uncomfortable and defensive.
He will bite again, he's made that clear.
Pure insanity to offer him to rescue while thousands of sane, stable dog's are dying every day.
The comments prove that the general public suffers from the illusion that all dogs should be saved, but not one of them is saving him.
Do better.

"MOOSE" - OWNER SURRENDERED FOR MULTIPLE UNPROVOKED BITES, SCHEDULED TO BE EUTHANIZED ON 08/26/2026..!!
- PLEASE NOTE: NEGATIVE COMMENTS NOT DIRECTED AT FINDING A RESCUE WILL BE DELETED. As we all can imagine, the decision to surrender MOOSE to the shelter was extremely difficult for his family.
MOOSE is a 3.5 year old, 82 lbs., neutered Standard Poodle/Golden Retriever mix that came into the Orange County shelter on 08/17/2026 as an owner surrender. MOOSE'S owner stated that most bites happened when anyone would turn their backs to him. She said she has owned MOOSE for 3 years, and that he has bitten over 12 different people during the time she has had him.
MOOSE'S owner said she got him from her mom's neighbor. She said he has lived with a Dachshund, is house trained and not destructive when left alone. He loves car rides, long walks and being outside. He knows basic commands but does not like his rear end touched. He is jumpy, anxious, fearful, aggressive, obedient and energetic. She said they have worked with 3 separate trainers regarding his biting behavior, but the problem persists.
MOOSE was wagging his tail during his impound. His owner walked him into a kennel and removed his muzzle and collar. When staff removed him from the kennel, he was a little hesitant at first, but walked out nicely and sat on the scale.
In the clinic for his intake exam, MOOSE was frozen and nervous. He gave 'wary eye' and just stared. He was muzzled and did well for his vaccines, then got nervous and began thrashing.
MOOSE is curious and affiliative with staff in his kennel, and takes treats nicely. Due to the number of unprovoked bites and his behavioral history, shelter staff feels as though it is unsafe to remove MOOSE from his kennel.
BEHAVIOR SUMMARY:
MOOSE was owner surrendered with an extensive and concerning bite history, with his previous owner reporting bites to more than 12 people over the course of 3 years. Multiple incidents were described as occurring with little to no provocation, including people walking past him, turning around near him, or getting up after interacting with him. Reported injuries have included puncture wounds, skin break through clothing, lacerations, and bruising. While MOOSE has displayed affiliative behaviors in his kennel, these observations do not negate the severity or unpredictability of his behavior history. Due to concerns for staff and public safety, we are recommending placement with rescue.
