Summer Survival Tips for Georgia’s Community Cats ☀️🐾

When Georgia heat hits hard, our outdoor cats need a little extra help to stay safe and comfortable. Here’s how you can make a big difference:

1. Fresh, Cool Water is a Must 💧
Place multiple water bowls in shady spots. Change daily—and toss in a few ice cubes to help beat that Southern heat!

2. Shade is Life 🌳
Use tarps, umbrellas, or place shelters under decks, porches, or dense trees. Even a cardboard box under shade can help.

3. Cool Retreats 🧊
Bare dirt, shaded patios, and cooling mats offer relief from scorching surfaces. Avoid metal containers—they heat up fast in the Georgia sun.

4. Watch for Heat Danger 🚨
Signs of heatstroke include heavy panting, drooling, staggering, vomiting, or seizures. Act fast and seek veterinary help if you see these symptoms.

5. Food Smarts 🍽️
Stick to dry food during the hottest parts of the day—it won’t spoil as quickly. Add a little water for hydration and always remove uneaten food to avoid bugs and ants.

✅ Bottom Line:
If you’re melting, so are they. Shade, fresh water, and a watchful eye can mean the difference between survival and suffering.

Tag your fellow caretakers and keep those community kitties cool and safe all summer long! 🐱❄️

🚨 🚨 URGENT 🚨 🚨
We are pleading with the community looking for fosters and adoptees to help. We are beyond FULL. The only way to keep from euthanizing tomorrow evening would be to get out as many as we can. The lucky number we are pushing for is 20 dogs and cats!!!! If anyone wants to sponsor that would be grealy appreciated also. That we if people want to help we can send them out. These are super sweet dogs and cats and we don’t want to let them down.
