Kindness Ranch Animal Sanctuary

Kindness Ranch Animal Sanctuary We are a 1,000 acre animal sanctuary in Wyoming - Giving Former Research Animals A Future. Contact us today to find out how you can get involved!

All of the animals at Kindness Ranch Animal Sanctuary have previously been used in, or were destined to be used in, laboratory research. We have a small but hardworking staff, all of who live on site to provide the animals with the best possible hands-on care. Some of our experienced staff members live with the dogs and work daily on socialization, crate-training, housebreaking, leash-walking, and

basic commands. The cats receive an abundance of play time, trees for climbing, an outdoor space for exploring, and socialization with other cats and visitors. Our horses and other farm animals also receive daily care and socialization. The horses and cows are free to roam most of our 1,000 acres, and the sheep and pigs have access to open grazing land, as well. These animals are visitor favorites and will likely live out their lives at Kindness Ranch. We also provide an adoption program for our cats, dogs, horses, potbelly pigs and occasional small mammals. Those who are too debilitated, old, or ill to be placed in a loving home can remain on the ranch to live out their days, surrounded by caretakers and volunteers who put the animals’ well-being first. We offer unique guest accommodations right on the property for those interested in volunteering, adopting, or otherwise supporting our mission. Our fully-furnished rental cabins are available year-round at competitive rates and deliver a one-of-a-kind experience for visitors of all ages! We are always looking for supporters interested in adopting, fostering, or volunteering.

Regarding the events happening at Ridglan Farms...

"Recently, there has been a great deal of attention on Ridglan Farms, the Wisconsin facility that bred beagles for research and also conducted research involving dogs. That attention has brought out deep emotion, as it should.

But emotion cannot be the only thing guiding this movement.

There has also been misinformation, inaccurate reporting, exaggerated claims, and a growing divide between people who should be working toward the same goal. In some spaces, the conversation has become less about the animals and more about who gets to be seen as the hero.

That does not help the dogs.

It does not help the next group of animals waiting behind closed doors. It does not help the sanctuaries and rescues doing quiet, difficult work every day."

Last month, we helped facilitate the closure of a research facility and welcomed every animal from that location to Kindness Ranch. Now, many of those resilient beagles are ready for the next chapter of their lives and are searching for loving forever homes.

Every dog pictured here is available for adoption and can't wait to meet their new family. If you're ready to open your heart and home, visit KindnessRanch.org today to fill out an adoption application and help give one of these deserving pups the fresh start they deserve.

The cat yurt has welcomed plenty of new faces lately, and we'd love to introduce you to some of the cats searching for their forever families.

📸: Chutney took some time to warm up to humans, but now she is one of the biggest sweethearts in the cat yurt, often seeking out human attention wherever she can get it.

📸: Don't let her size fool you, Fava is as feisty as they come. Fava loves being carried around and has no problem pushing the big boys out of the way to get attention from her caregivers.

📸: Mayo has become a very calming presence in the cat yurt, often waiting patiently for pets. Finding him in a group isn't hard, just look for the adorable cat with the distinctive mustache.

📸: Adobo has become one of the biggest cuddlers we have. Within seconds of being released into the cat yurt, Adobo immediately searched for a human lap to come sit in, seemingly unaffected by his former profession.

📸: Plum hasn't quite figured out the whole "petting" thing, and tends to start doing headstands until you give her attention. She is one of the friendliest girls we have and will make an excellent addition to any growing family.

🚨 Attention Ridglan Beagle Adopters! 🚨

Recent reports of former research beagles running off and going missing have highlighted the importance of proper preparation and support during the transition to life outside the laboratory.

To help, Kindness Ranch Executive Director John Ramer will be joining Beagle Alliance's Lori Cohen and Keeper and Kin Founder Chelsey Marino for a special discussion on best practices for keeping these incredible dogs safe, happy, and successful in their new homes. This is also a great opportunity to connect with a community of like minded adopters and fosters who understand the unique challenges and rewards of welcoming a former research beagle into their family.
