All of the animals at Kindness Ranch Animal Sanctuary have previously been used in, or were destined to be used in, laboratory research. We have a small but hardworking staff, all of who live on site to provide the animals with the best possible hands-on care. Some of our experienced staff members live with the dogs and work daily on socialization, crate-training, housebreaking, leash-walking, and

basic commands. The cats receive an abundance of play time, trees for climbing, an outdoor space for exploring, and socialization with other cats and visitors. Our horses and other farm animals also receive daily care and socialization. The horses and cows are free to roam most of our 1,000 acres, and the sheep and pigs have access to open grazing land, as well. These animals are visitor favorites and will likely live out their lives at Kindness Ranch. We also provide an adoption program for our cats, dogs, horses, potbelly pigs and occasional small mammals. Those who are too debilitated, old, or ill to be placed in a loving home can remain on the ranch to live out their days, surrounded by caretakers and volunteers who put the animals’ well-being first. We offer unique guest accommodations right on the property for those interested in volunteering, adopting, or otherwise supporting our mission. Our fully-furnished rental cabins are available year-round at competitive rates and deliver a one-of-a-kind experience for visitors of all ages! We are always looking for supporters interested in adopting, fostering, or volunteering.

Their lives were nearly lost. YOU can change their fate!

Previously forty-five, now forty-seven female beagles are waiting and ready to come home after life in a research lab never knowing love, compassion or kindness. Although they are located in China, American tattoos and microchips show signs of their origin from U.S. breeding programs overseas. When the testing ended, their fate darkened further... They were slated to be sold into the illegal dog meat trade in China.

But, just in time, a lifeline appeared! Before being sold, an American nonprofit called Run2theRescue stepped in to safeguard them from a horrific end and began searching for long-term placement. When our friends at White Coat Waste Project helped connect Run2theRescue with Kindness Ranch, these beautiful girls were saved.

No single person, rescue, or organization could pull off something of this scale alone. It’s taken compassion, humility, and relentless cooperation across borders and missions. These 45 beagles have already endured more than most dogs ever should. Now they have one final journey: one that leads to grass beneath their feet, sunshine on their faces, and hands that heal. We are calling on all of our amazing supporters to join this mission, Operation Freedom Fetchers!

Thanks to the generosity of an amazing family, all donations for this rescue transport will be matched up to $15,000! The total cost to bring them all home will be close to $60,000. Double your gift to save forty-seven little beagles: https://kindnessranch.org/products/support-operation-freedom-fetchers

Also, a special thanks to The Beagle Alliance in Canada, with Cage to Couch and Priceless Pets in California for helping us place our current adoptable beagles in an effort to make room for all these beautiful girls!

If anybody near them is interested in fostering or adopting former research beagles now, please reach out to them.

Operation: Freedom Fetchers is underway! We are taking on an extraordinary mission to bring 45 young, female beagles home from China. These are not strays. These are our dogs. They bear American tattoos and microchips—signs of their origin in U.S.-linked breeding programs overseas and used in laboratory research.

When the testing stopped, their lives were set to end in horror most likely funneled toward the illegal meat trade, making them dual survivors!

But then, everything changed.

Thanks to rescue teams on the ground, they were pulled from that nightmare just in time. Then Run2theRescue, an American nonprofit, stepped in to support their care while searching for long-term placement. When our friends at White Coat Waste Project helped connect them with John here at Kindness Ranch, the impossible began to feel real.

Even though Kindness Ranch is currently overwhelmed with a near record number of research dog releases, we didn’t hesitate. We said yes, opening our doors and our hearts.

We have trusted partners helping us place our current dogs into foster homes, making room for all 45 beagles coming in.

This mission is a powerful reminder that real change happens when we put ego aside and unite for a greater purpose. No single person, rescue, or organization could pull off something of this scale alone. It’s taken compassion, humility, and relentless cooperation across borders and missions. When we come together—sharing resources, trusting one another, and keeping the focus on the animals—we create something far bigger than the sum of its parts. Operation: Freedom Fetchers is proof of that. These 45 beagles are getting a second chance not because of one hero, but because many chose to work together and lead with heart.

What we don’t have yet is the funding.
These 45 beagles have already endured more than most dogs ever should. Now they have one final journey ahead: to freedom, to safety, to love.

This is your moment to be part of Operation: Freedom Fetchers.
Our operation is ready for takeoff. All that’s missing is you!

Every donation helps fly them home. Every dollar is a step closer to the life they deserve.

They’ve been tested. They’ve been used. They’ve been nearly lost. Now, let’s bring them home.

Be the miracle. Join Operation: Freedom Fetchers today.

Humans from several organizations are coming together to raise funds for this international rescue! The total cost will be close to sixty thousand dollars just for transportation. Thanks to the generosity of an incredible family, all donations through our website page will be matched up to $15,000. Double your donation and help these girls get home!

From Test Subject to Taste Tester 🇺🇸

Hi, I’m kind of new here. I just got out of a lab, and today I discovered two incredible things: freedom… and SNACKS.

It’s Memorial Day, and while I’m still figuring out why the humans are off work and relaxing, I do know this: I’ve got a soft bed, a patch of sunshine, and more belly rubs than I ever thought possible.

So here’s to the heroes—those who served, those who sacrificed, and those who believed even a little lab beagle like me deserved a second chance.

Now if you’ll excuse me, someone just dropped a treat.

New boy "Ren" went from being a little overwhelmed by his new surroundings to confidently exploring the grassy areas of our Canine Corral and occasionally checking in with the humans that brought him there.

He may quickly become a staff favorite at this rate.

Please take notice of his new yellow harness - one of nearly 70 recently donated by you animal heroes!!! Thank you so much for your generosity!!!!

We were busy this week.... and it is only beginning. We are busy ALL month.

This week alone we have brought in 33 research beagles from two different states. Over the next two weeks we will be bringing in an additional 50 from another two different states.

I apologize for the lack of updates on these, and other, developments. It has been difficult to balance all the work going on behind the scenes with all sharing all the good news here!

More updates soon! Our travels and incoming animals are far from over!

Yesterday, Cammi turned 4 years old. She came to Kindness Ranch in late November of 2022. I still remember the moment my wife looked at me and said, “Oh John, you’ve got to see this one,” as we loaded her onto the van for the long ride to Wyoming.

She was scared, shut down, and overwhelmed. I used to sit quietly with her, wondering if I’d ever see that spark in her eyes that beagles are known for. Then one day, nearly two weeks later, she got the zoomies when I walked in. That was the moment everything changed. We introduced her to Uno and the rest of our pack—and just like that, she filled our home with love and life. This tiny beagle completed us.

Looking at her before and after photos brings tears to my eyes. Not just for what she endured before Kindness Ranch, but for the joy she radiates now.

Cammi’s story is just one of thousands. And tomorrow, it starts all over again. Over the next 31 days, we’ll be welcoming more than 50 dogs, transitioning from research facilities to sanctuary and eventually to forever homes.

The costs are significant—over $20,000 just in transport and veterinary care in the next 45 days, not including unexpected medical needs, kennel repairs, food, or staff support. It can feel overwhelming.

But then I look at Cammi. I see the adoption photos, the updates from families, the shared posts, the donations. These animals didn’t choose how their lives began—but with your help, we can give them the lives they deserve.

So even as the sanctuary buzzes with activity and the hills of southeastern Wyoming grow less quiet with anticipation and preparations, one thing remains constant: your commitment to helping us give these animals a second chance. And we remain just as committed to them—and to you.

Thank you for letting me give Cammi a home. And thank you for helping us give thousands more their shot at a real life.
