My name is Nicholas, and I was the CEO of BBAR, the rescue which used Pumpkins Legacy to network our animals quite a bit when the rescue was active.

My mother, Carol, was my intake coordinator. She informationally vetted each dog before bringing them to me as a Yes or No. In typical Mom fashion, I was largely ignored on that aspect until it came time to bleed some more money for the rescue. God, she was tenacious.

After 2 years of fighting Stage 4 Lung Cancer which had gone to her brain while we were fighting endlessly ....no, while SHE fought endlessly with unwavering courage and Christ in her heart, it went to her spine 3 weeks ago.

This past Sunday, she passed in the loving care of a literally perfect Hospice facility.

She ran this site. Now I will; her legacy deserves at least this much. This will be a page for sharing and contacting local resources for transportation, offering donation pledges, and everything in between.

I may not still run my rescue. But I will run this page for my Mother and the animals she ALWAYS preferred over people.

Thank you all; and I hope you've had a blessed New Years. Those of you who made the resolution to quit smoking, throw that half a pack a way. Those who promised to lose weight ..

We have successfully used Nutrish for years. Coupons always available on their website! We had bad results with 2 efforts of Blue Buffalo. What do you use and which ones do you not recommend or dislike?

Brutal temperatures starting tonight across the southeast! We don't face these conditions often, so please bring your pets inside! Even carports, mud rooms and out buildings need to be fully enclosed, water needs protected from freezing, warm, dry bedding that is raised off of the floor or ground, and check on them for signs of distress often. The only REAL option is to bring them inside. If you couldn't withstand the conditions, neither can they! Feral cats need easy access to enclosures off the ground and a water source and food!

Keep cats out of shelters! The stress can literally kill them. Leave out door community cats where they are if they are thriving. But DO bring them to a spay/neuter clinic like SSNA to have them fixed, vaccinated, de-wormed and ear tipped. We can provide humane traps if needed. Our “feral cat package” is only $25 (or less if you cannot afford) and we do provide pain meds and an overnight stay.
