It was the last day of my scheduled season 😊
About 185 farms, 675 alpacas & Llamas and About the same number of sheep. I use to do About twice this but retirement is creeping in. Hopefully I have a few more years for my true & trusty customers. Last alpaca and last sheep of my scheduled season.

Shearing season started out rough this year. After a fall resulting in a bad fracture to my left Calcaneous (heel) on Nov 6th, I spent most of the winter on crutches. My heel although a bit tender and not capable of full motion yet, is holding up and doesn't seem to effect my shearing. However, it will probably effect catching & chasing animals. But then, I came down with some kind of a nasty bug the day before I head out on a 10 day run. I was back home a day & half later, to sick to work. Took a couple days to recoup and headed out again only to have it beat me back into submission after a day. To the doctor this time and on antibiotics. After 5 days of down & out, I have faith that I can get back to it tomorrow.

Mt. Vernon, WA 98274
Cost; $450 for a team of 2 people
a 3rd person may be on the team at a cost of $75 per day. As it is necessary to have 2 people to safely restrain the alpacas, only teams will be accepted so that you can learn to work together. If you do not have a team member, contact me and I will see if I can pair you with someone.

What you will learn;
• Tools & equipment used.
• Safe handling, restraining & shearing.
• Alpaca welfare ie; Teeth, Feet, Vaccinations, Parasites, Halter fit & First aid.
• Fiber quality & handling (sorting, noodleing, rolling & storing fleeces.

Lunchs and dry camping (tent or trailer) will be provided by the host.

Please bring shearing equipent if you have it otherwise it will be provided. Hobble’s will be available for purchase & possibly some shearing equipment.

I will be picking up several llamas soon which will need re-homed. Most are 1 to 5 years old. Price will be $100 or less. They will be picked up in Ellensburg and relocated to Hartline, WA. If anyone is interested in one, please contact me.

There is still one spot left for the Alpaca Shearing Clinic, if you are interested in attending please let me know soon. This clinic will teach you how to shear your own animals or start your own shearing business. You will be shearing alpacas both days. I am only accepting 4 teams so that each can get plenty of instruction. Other shearers that I have taught will be on hand on Sunday to assist. Pass the word to anyone who might be interested. Clint

It was a great day today as I had the pleasure of having my daughter and granddaughter help me with some alpacas. Dawnna (my daughter) caught and trimmed feet while Alyssa (my granddaughter) held heads and learned about giving injections with the supervision of the owner.

It's the last day of the 2024 Moses Lake Shearing School. As always, most students had no idea what they were getting themselves into but after 5 days of wrestling and sweating they are coming away fulfilled and feeling accomplished.

Shearing is officially underway. 3 jobs today, some little sheep, some medium sized and some big ones. I also worked with a new aspiring shearer and guided her through her first sheep ever shorn. I think Heather Lynn did great and she will work with me again Friday and Saturday. Enjoying the ambo shearing RV.

2nd job of the year was at one of my good customers whom I have sheared for for many years. She always has great food & neighbors to help. This year, my daughter-in-law and grandsons came out to enjoy the day with me.

2nd job of the season was for a long time customer. As it was close to Northport, my daughter-in-law and grandsons came out and had a great time. Helen always makes everyone fill welcome with great snacks, drinks & goodies for the neighbors who come to help.
