Wildlife rescue feels 💚🦌🩺

SVS Imaging’s Kim Liedberg met this orphaned fawn + injured baby opossum during a mobile visit to Bristol Animal Hospital. Both are being cared for by Dr. Curran, who also works at the Racine Zoo.

A 9-year-old German Shorthair Pointer presented with vomiting, lethargy, and abdominal distension. Ultrasound revealed perforations in the pylorus and duodenum, a foreign body, free gas, and regional inflammation — a complex case typically reserved for boarded surgeons.

Despite the challenges, the attending vet bravely opted for surgery, and the patient is doing great post-op!

This case highlights the power of ultrasound in identifying life-threatening conditions.
