ABOUT US

The Lincoln Memorial University College of Veterinary Medicine is seeking to identify, recruit, and enroll qualified students who are likely to succeed in the professional curriculum and become successful veterinarians. Lincoln Memorial University (LMU) was founded in 1897 to honor of the commitment of Abraham Lincoln's 1863 request to organize a university for the people of the Cumberla

nd Gap area. The University’s mission to advance life in the Cumberland Gap area and the Appalachian region with its teaching, research, and service activities is accomplished by making educational and research opportunities available to students where they live. Providing an accessible and affordable veterinary medical education to qualified students in the Appalachian region is a key component to the mission of the LMU-College of Veterinary Medicine.

Summer opportunities start with exploration! 🐎

Earlier this spring, LMU-CVM students traveled to Lexington, KY, for our annual Lexington Day, where they visited the University of Kentucky Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory, Spy Coast Farm, and Hagyard Equine Medical Institute.

The visit introduced students to a variety of career and research pathways, including a summer research program, which offers valuable learning opportunities in areas such as pathology, parasitology, infectious disease, and reproduction.

Through experiences like these, students gain valuable insight into the many ways veterinarians contribute to research, diagnostics, and equine health.

What a way to send off the Class of 2027 Blue!

Today we celebrated the end of didactic classes and officially sent the Class of 2027 off to Clinical Year. It was a great afternoon filled with good food, photos, laughter, and one last chance for faculty and staff to wish them well before they begin clinics across the country.

We’re proud of everything this class has accomplished over the past three years and excited to see what’s ahead for them in this next chapter.

Access to care can change lives for pets and the people who love them. LMU‑CVM students put service into action by providing free vaccines and microchips to 162 dogs and cats from our surrounding community! This student‑led effort removed real barriers to veterinary care while delivering hands‑on learning with purpose. Service and education working together to support healthier communities.

With two veterinary colleges in Harrogate, TN and Orange Park, FL, we are proud of our students, DVM alumni, faculty, and staff who make a difference every day by advancing the profession and providing compassionate care to the animals entrusted to them.
