From RO/DI water to products of all kinds — we’ve got your tank covered!

An RO/DI water system removes impurities and minerals, providing ultra-pure water essential for healthy saltwater aquariums. The best water for your at home tanks, we offer inhouse jugs to fill up or you may bring in a 5 gallon bucket for us to fill for you. We are the only local shop around with RO/DI water.

Mangrove Root - Mangrove root helps colonize beneficial bacteria in your tank in addition to removing excess nitrates and phosphates, keeping your water clean and giving fish a natural place to explore and hide. Mangrove Root happens to be one of the only natural driftwood that can go in Saltwater aquariums.

In addition to our new RO/DI system and mangrove root, we have plenty of dry goods for your saltwater aquarium. We’ve stocked multiple brands and sizes of marine salt, dry coral plates and branches, frozen and dry fish food, reef dosing products, and various forms of filtration.

Good Afternoon friends of Critter Cove! We are highlighting a product staple in our shop – Fritz Zyme 7.
Fritz Zyme 7 is a liquid beneficial bacteria that aids in the cycling of fish aquariums.

Why is this important?

All aquariums must go through a biological cycle called the "Nitrogen Cycle" where harmful waste products from fish are converted to less toxic compounds, allowing for a healthy ecosystem. When fish p**p, they release ammonia into the aquarium; ammonia at any level can be detrimental to the health of the fish and ecosystem. Beneficial bacteria converts Ammonia into Nitrite, then converts Nitrite into Nitrate, which can be consumed by plants or manually removed through water changes.

We highly recommend using Fritz Zyme 7 (Freshwater) or Fritz Zyme 9 (Saltwater) when starting up an aquarium, when adding a significant amount of fish, or even after routine water changes. Fritz Zyme 7, and its more powerful counterpart, Fritz Turbo Start, is the reason we were able to stock the tanks at Critter Cove so quickly.

Myth: “Fish or reptiles only grow to the size of their tank or terrarium.”
❌ Not true!

Fact: Although enclosure size can impact a fish or reptile’s health, it doesn’t directly determine how large they grow. While a small tank may stunt their growth, it’s not healthy or natural—it’s actually a sign of stress, poor water quality or husbandry, and limited mobility.

Animals have genetic growth potential—and if their environment doesn’t meet their needs, it can lead to deformities, illness, and a shortened lifespan.

✅ The key to healthy growth? Proper tank size, lighting, temperature, enrichment, and nutrition!

Give your pets the space they deserve to thrive—not just survive. 💚

Good Morning friends of Critter Cove! We’d love to introduce you to our team – Skylar, Bob & Jeff. These three have been with us since day one and we are so very grateful for all they do to support Critter Cove.

Skylar Chumley graduated in 2024 with her bachelors degree in Animal Health and Behavior. She specializes in reptiles, amphibians, and invertebrates and has a passion for planted aquariums, nano fish and bioactive reptiles enclosures.

Robert Hicks has 10 years of experience in the retail pet industry and has kept a wide variety of animals. He is highly passionate about pets of all types. He plays a key role behind the scenes, helping our store run smoothly each and every day. He 3D prints many of our fish tank accessories, decor, and merchandise. He served in the military for 7 years.

Aquatic Specialist Jeff, has 48 years of fishkeeping experience and 15 years of retail pet store experience. He has a passion for unusual fish and planted aquariums.
