Every day is a new opportunity for growth and learning for both DJ and Amelia. As they embark on this journey together, I focus on teaching DJ specific tasks that will empower Amelia in her daily life. From retrieving items to providing stability while walking, each skill is designed to enhance their bond and foster Amelia’s independence.

Additionally, we incorporate socialization exercises into their routine. I encourage Amelia to take DJ to different environments, whether it’s a busy park or a local café. Each outing is an opportunity for Amelia to practice her skills as a handler and to experience life beyond the confines of her disability. With DJ by her side, she is able to engage with the world around her in ways she never thought possible.

As their training progresses, I witness the transformation in Amelia. Her confidence grows with every successful task DJ completes, and her zest for life is palpable. She is learning to advocate for herself and to embrace the adventures that come her way. I am continually inspired by their partnership and the resilience they both demonstrate.

In the end, my role as a trainer goes beyond teaching commands; it’s about nurturing a relationship that fosters growth and independence. DJ and Amelia are not just a team; they are a testament to the power of companionship and the incredible journey that lies ahead. Each new experience brings them closer together, and I am honored to be part of their incredible story.

Everyone welcome my newest student Sato!
Sato is a 3 month old Shiba-Inu puppy who rolled in my 30 day training training camp!

Her breeder did a wonderful job with printing a lot of simple, basic opinion, potty training, and leash skills, which I always have to give the highest amends to ! Her owners wanted to keep up with her training as she goes older; Shibas are known for their independent personality and training when they’re very young is essential in order for them to really enjoy listening to you!

We will go over her leash work, making sure she knows that it’s good to stay next to us when she walks increasing her obedience and her sit stay down stay as well as Place command!

Stay tuned as I will document her journey and do a little tips and tricks for training young puppies !

Stephanie was an amazing lady, shorter than me, tough as nails with such an extraordinary exuberance for life. She was passionate and dedicated to the dogs and such an excellent mentor. She never asked for a dime when I asked for her help evaluating my pups, only asked for a cup of coffee each time I went to see her. She always had a smile and story for everyone, a strong hand and soft voice.
A lot of the way I think about dogs and evaluate pups was influenced by her. I had the pleasure of spending many hours learning from her.

She”ll be greatly missed.

THIS IS WHAT MAKES IT ALL WORTH IT FOR ME

Cardiac alert service dog in training RGR’s “MR DJ TURBO”
Is spending his first night at home with his handler.
He is not finishing in his training, but I believe it is important for the handler and the dog to form a bond even before the training is over I want the dog and I want the handler to feel comfortable with each other to understand each other and to feel safe with each other. Part of my program includes overnight or weekend visitations which in my years of experience results in a better bond for the dog

His handler has POTS/eHDs and he will not only be taught to alert to cardiac changes (which if you watch my stories, you can see his progress. He’s doing absolutely amazing.). But also counterbalancing and wheelchair guiding

I went back-and-forth for time because I had chose two different dogs for Amelia my experience and my gut told me that both of them would make great service dogs. It took me almost 3 weeks to finally settle on DJ as the Dog for her and I feel I made the right choice.

Hidden sample POTS true cardiac episode heart rate range 145 155.

The game now becomes can you alert when you’re in a different state of mind?

Service Dog DJ has been doing excellently in his scent work training He is being specifically trained as a cardiac alert. Dog is primary purposes to alert the handler to oncoming increases of heart rate. This sample is not in our target range, but it is high enough for a clear distinction of the smell in order to make it easy for him to understand to alert when in different states of mind.

Recently, we have been working on alerting while in play his mind is focused on a toy or a ball or a chew. Can he focus enough to alert to a hidden sample when he is not thinking about alerting?

The working detection, dog world meets the average dog owner and disabled when it comes to Service Dog work. DJ is already clear and understands a trained final response. (Nose boop) the next link in the behavior chain whereas the working dog would receive their toy and the search would be over our finalization queue would be DPT (down across the handler’s lap) for the Service Dog

Big news!!
EF5 Tasmanian Twister (Taz). Now Sophia just got hired by Essex County Sheriff’s office!! She’s their newest cadet and will be trained in explosives detection.

I wanna give a big big shout out to Nick at .as for raising this girl in his home and dedicating the time to putting a great foundation on her. As a breeder it takes a lot off my mind when I can trust my dogs are somewhere safe with someone I trust.

K9 Sophia will be raised and trained by I’m so excited to see what he can do with this little girl!!

Rose Gold Retrievers DEAD MEN DONT LIE “Verdad” (left) & PUSHING UP DAISIES “Flora” left for these new home and adventures with Meagan and Sam of They were chosen to fill big shoes, Verdad as a HRD (cadaver) and Flora as a live find SAR dog. It always hurts to see them go, it I take a lot of pride in producing digs with working capability and even more joy in knowing that the people who have my dogs want to do something with them.

8 years looks good on me. Still haven’t been sober longer than I drank but I’m working towards it

By the grace of god today I woke up with 8 years clean and sober. If you know me 10 years ago I started my career with dogs- you can do the math

As long as you are alive there is chance to live another day, a chance for recovery; a chance to have the life you’ve always dreamed of.

9 years ago all I wanted was a job where I could take my dog to work with me- never in my wildest dreams back then would I have imagined I’d be doing what I’m doing today; Helping dogs and their people. Never would I have believed I could make my entire career about my dogs. Never would I have imagined I’d meet all my beautiful friends, clients and their wonderful dogs and would have the opportunity to do what I’m doing
