⚠️Trigger Warning. We have got another one.

We got a call yesterday about a very sick kitten Colonial Park - Darby rd area.

The first thing we thought, when we laid eyes on her - was that she reminded us of Tripp. Lost. Sick. Losing her hope. Giving up so someone would find her.

Her eyes are completely swollen shut with pus.
Her body is covered in ticks.
She has a terrible upper respiratory infection.
She isn't lifeless, but she has no drive to eat. She is being syringe fed formula and HydroCare.
She was found all alone outside, with an adult cat watching her. We believe it was her Mother, and are actively trying to catch her because nobody gets left behind here.

This little lady has a long road ahead of her. She cannot eat on her own and requires syringes, sub q fluids, antibiotics, and eye creams to start. We estimate her at about 5-6 weeks.

She spends most of her day curled up in a ball on the heating pad in her pod. She can hear, but she just cannot see anything. She is so dehydrated she is a bit lethargic. She is absolutely pathetic, but we are thankful there was no fly strike. The good samaritan got her just in time.

The next 72 hours will be critical. She NEEDS to turn a corner. We are taking full precautionary measures with 100% quarantine processes. This is gloves, gowns and Tella has only been allowed to view her at a safe distance while she is being fed and receiving medical.

And yes, she is Siamese. These pictures are before and after 1 night in rescue. We will hold on to any amount of progress to keep going!

Welcome, Miss Trina. Hold on and FIGHT little girl! You CAN do this! 💪

*Every single day finding cats like this can take a toll on your mental health. Please, check on your rescue friends. This time of year is absolutely terrible on homeless animals, especially for kittens and those who put everything into saving them. We are all doing the best we can. Lift each other up and remain positive. Help if you can. Foster, Adopt, Donate - anything helps. And mostly importantly, ALWAYS BE KIND. 🫶

🎊In honor of our 25th Anniversary we have decided to start a new tradition here at Castaway Critters.

Every year in the month of June we are going to pull an animal that resides in a shelter that has lost its hope of ever having their ending rewritten.

Today we laid eyes on this gal, whose name was Merry Go Round, now known as Mary. She is on her way to Jess' house now to get further evaluated and extra snuggles. Stay tuned for her arrival that will be formally announced on a LIVE.

This is her story. 🫶

Trigger Warning ⚠️

Merry Go Round: unaltered female, 4yo, 3.4lbs
Merry Go Round came to the shelter through Animal Control on 6/8.

Despite everything she has endured, Merry Go Round has remained responsive, friendly, and cooperative with staff. Unfortunately, it is clear that this sweet girl has been surviving for quite some time and is now facing significant medical challenges.

Merry Go Round arrived severely emaciated and dehydrated. She has multiple damaged and fractured teeth, extensive old injuries to her ears, and a chronic tail injury that has left much of her tail nonfunctional. At this time, portions of the tail appear necrotic, and she may ultimately require amputation once she has gained enough weight to safely undergo anesthesia. She may also need dental extractions for her fractured teeth.

Veterinary staff have recommended additional diagnostics, including radiographs, due to evidence suggesting previous trauma. Her appetite and overall condition are being closely monitored as she begins the long road to recovery.

Merry Go Round is a kind and resilient cat who deserves the opportunity to heal. She has already survived so much; now she needs a chance to recover and experience the comfort and security every cat deserves.

Please help me welcome, Mary.

Oh sweet girl, it is all going to be okay. We are so happy you are here, but now it is time for you to rest and let us do the work for you! 🩷

Tripp Talk🗣: New Diggs

"I am such a big boy, I have taken over the Big Tella's bedroom! Mom said I was due for an upgrade. She picked me up and told me she was taking me to the Big Tella's room, where I will get stronger and bigger!

Wow. What a nice place! 10/10 recommend. BUT! There was a big thing that Mom kept telling Dad to take out, but I wanted to explore it first.

Bad. Idea.

This thing was so big and looked very scary. I did my best attacking it with my sideways step move, but it didn't move. I even gave it a little hiss. Still nothing. Mom says it is Dad's golf clubs and that they didn't belong in my new room so Dad took it out. Mom is boss here.

Whew. Dodged a bullet there. And then, Mom gave me lots of yummy food and snacks. Definitely better accommodations up here. The other friends in the house came to visit me and everyone was very nice. But THEN....

Mom threw two mice at me! How dare she! I was NOT having it, especially after the golf club fiasco. I decided to show them my Raptor skills, I am NOT going to be bullied in MY new room! I pounced, grabbed the purple one and bit it right in the tail! I then proceeded to carry it around the room incase Mr. Yellow mouse got any crazy ideas. But he didn't. Just incase, I bit him too.

I love to play with my new mice and have my new snacks. Mom says we are running dangerously low on my yummy snacks and she needs some help.

If you can help, please send me some goodies. Mom says there is a sale for $7.50 on one bag of my crunchies. Now that I can stand to eat like a big boy raptor, they have become my favorite.

I will report back on the purple and yellow mice. If anyone acts up, they are going to catch the wrath of the Raptor! Big Tella better watch herself, too! New sheriff in town!"

Wow! We are absolutely thrilled, humbled, and incredibly grateful. We want to extend our deepest appreciation to Church Mutual Insurance Company and their employees across the country who nominated and voted for us. We are honored to be chosen as one of just 14 non-profits nationwide to receive a donation from this incredible organization. Thank you to everyone at Church Mutual who stands behind our mission and supports our work.

Because of this, Snowball will be able to get her major dental work done. The 20 kittens we just took in will have enough medicine to make them healthy and we can now schedule more spays/neuters. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

Yep, you heard it here first! 📢📢

ALL CATS & KITTENS WILL BE AVAILABLE FOR $25 NOW THROUGH JULY 31ST!😱😱😱

We are celebrating 25 years of being a rescue! What better way to do that but to clear our shelters and find all of the cats and kittens furever homes!😻

All fees for cats & kittens will be $25, but the application process stays the same. While we want to find them furever homes at a reduced fee, we want to ensure they are indeed FOREVER homes.🫡

Please apply at www.castawaycritters.org.
Now is the time to find your best friend or FRIENDS! We are happy to answer any questions you may have. If you don't see anyone that catches your eye, we have other animals that are not quite ready for adoption yet, but will honor the $25 adoption fee should you apply & be approved, through July 31st!

Please help us celebrate 25 years and CLEAR THE SHELTER! ❤️🖤💛
