🎊In honor of our 25th Anniversary we have decided to start a new tradition here at Castaway Critters.
Every year in the month of June we are going to pull an animal that resides in a shelter that has lost its hope of ever having their ending rewritten.
Today we laid eyes on this gal, whose name was Merry Go Round, now known as Mary. She is on her way to Jess' house now to get further evaluated and extra snuggles. Stay tuned for her arrival that will be formally announced on a LIVE.
This is her story. 🫶
Trigger Warning ⚠️
Merry Go Round: unaltered female, 4yo, 3.4lbs
Merry Go Round came to the shelter through Animal Control on 6/8.
Despite everything she has endured, Merry Go Round has remained responsive, friendly, and cooperative with staff. Unfortunately, it is clear that this sweet girl has been surviving for quite some time and is now facing significant medical challenges.
Merry Go Round arrived severely emaciated and dehydrated. She has multiple damaged and fractured teeth, extensive old injuries to her ears, and a chronic tail injury that has left much of her tail nonfunctional. At this time, portions of the tail appear necrotic, and she may ultimately require amputation once she has gained enough weight to safely undergo anesthesia. She may also need dental extractions for her fractured teeth.
Veterinary staff have recommended additional diagnostics, including radiographs, due to evidence suggesting previous trauma. Her appetite and overall condition are being closely monitored as she begins the long road to recovery.
Merry Go Round is a kind and resilient cat who deserves the opportunity to heal. She has already survived so much; now she needs a chance to recover and experience the comfort and security every cat deserves.
Please help me welcome, Mary.
Oh sweet girl, it is all going to be okay. We are so happy you are here, but now it is time for you to rest and let us do the work for you! 🩷
