🐾🐱 Loki’s First Visit! 🐱🐾
Loki recently had her very first visit with Koch Veterinary Services, and she did a great job! Sometimes the veterinary office can feel a little scary for our feline friends, but there are simple ways to help them feel safer and more comfortable.
One thing that helped Loki was being gently wrapped in a soft towel. Many cats feel more secure when they’re snug and covered, which can help reduce stress during their exam.
✨ Tips to Help Your Cat Feel More Comfortable at the Vet:
• Bring a familiar blanket or towel from home that smells like them (or you). Familiar scents can be very calming.
• Place soft bedding in the carrier so your kitty has a cozy place to rest.
• Add a favorite toy for comfort.
• Use a sturdy carrier that allows your cat to feel secure and protected.
• Cover the carrier with a light blanket or towel during travel to reduce visual stress.
• Leave the carrier out at home between vet visits so your cat sees it as a normal, safe space instead of something scary.
Small steps like these can make a big difference in helping cats have a more relaxed veterinary experience.
Great job, Loki! We loved meeting you and look forward to seeing you again. 💜🐾

Ways to help an anxious dog:
✨ Provide a safe, quiet space for them to relax
✨ Maintain a consistent routine for meals, walks, and playtime

🇺🇸🐾 Honoring Memorial Day 🐾🇺🇸
Today, Memorial Day is a time to pause and remember the brave men and women who gave their lives while serving our country. Their sacrifice allows us the freedoms we enjoy each day, and we are deeply grateful.
At Koch Veterinary Services, we honor and remember those heroes and keep their families in our thoughts today.
As many families gather for the holiday, we hope you enjoy time with loved ones—including your pets. If your plans include cookouts or outdoor celebrations, remember to keep pets safe by:
🐾 Keeping them away from hot grills and human foods that may upset their stomach
🐾 Making sure they have plenty of fresh water and shade
🐾 Keeping an eye on them if fireworks are part of your celebration later in the evening
Today we remember, reflect, and give thanks. 🇺🇸

🐢🌎 World Turtle Day 🌎🐢
Today we celebrate World Turtle Day, a day dedicated to appreciating and protecting these incredible reptiles.
While we don’t see turtles as patients at Koch Veterinary Services, we still want to take a moment to admire these amazing animals and the important role they play in ecosystems around the world. Turtles have been on Earth for more than 200 million years, making them true survivors of our planet’s history.
Many turtle species face challenges such as habitat loss, pollution, and climate change, which makes awareness and conservation efforts more important than ever.
If you’re lucky enough to spot a turtle crossing the road this season, remember the best way to help is to safely move them in the direction they were already heading (if it’s safe to do so).
🐢 Take a moment today to appreciate these fascinating creatures and the role they play in our natural world.

🐾❄️ Is Your Pet Shedding That Winter Coat? ❄️🐾
As the weather warms up, many pets begin to shed their thick winter coats. While shedding is completely normal, it can sometimes feel like the fur just keeps coming! At Koch Veterinary Services, we have a few tips to help manage that seasonal shedding and keep your pet comfortable.
✨ Helpful Tips for Managing Shedding:
• Brush regularly – Frequent brushing helps remove loose hair before it ends up on your furniture and clothing.
• Use the right tools – De-shedding brushes and grooming tools designed for your pet’s coat type can make a big difference.
• Maintain a healthy diet – Proper nutrition supports healthy skin and coats.
• Bathe when appropriate – Occasional baths with pet-safe shampoo can help loosen excess hair.
• Stay consistent – A regular grooming routine can greatly reduce the amount of shedding around your home.
If you notice excessive shedding, bald spots, itching, or irritated skin, it may be worth having your pet checked by your veterinarian, as these can sometimes be signs of underlying skin conditions or allergies.
🐶🐱 Seasonal shedding can be messy, but with the right care your pet can stay healthy, comfortable, and looking their best!

🐾🦴 Arthritis Awareness Month 🦴🐾
May is Arthritis Awareness Month, and it’s an important reminder that arthritis doesn’t just affect people—it’s also very common in our pets, especially as they age.
At Koch Veterinary Services, we frequently see dogs and cats experiencing joint discomfort due to arthritis. The signs can sometimes be subtle, including:
• Slowing down on walks
• Difficulty jumping onto furniture or into the car
• Stiffness after resting
• Limping or favoring a leg
• Decreased activity or changes in behavior
The good news is that there are many ways we can help manage arthritis and keep your pet comfortable. Treatment options may include weight management, joint supplements, medications, therapeutic diets, and lifestyle adjustments to support mobility and reduce pain.
If you’ve noticed changes in your pet’s movement or activity level, it may be time for a veterinary exam. Early intervention can make a big difference in keeping your pet active and comfortable.

🐾❤️ Happy National Rescue Dog Day! ❤️🐾
Today we celebrate National Rescue Dog Day, a day dedicated to the incredible dogs who found their forever homes through rescue and the compassionate people who opened their hearts to them.
Rescue dogs come from many different backgrounds, but one thing they all share is an amazing capacity for love and loyalty. With patience, care, and a little time to settle in, these dogs often become the most devoted companions you could ask for.
At Koch Veterinary Services, we are honored to care for many rescue pets in our community. Whether they’re coming in for their first wellness exam, vaccines, or routine care, helping them start a healthy new chapter with their families is something we truly love.
If you’ve welcomed a rescue dog into your life, today is the perfect day to celebrate them with an extra walk, a favorite toy, or a special treat. 🦴🐶
📸 We’d love to see them! Share a photo of your rescue dog in the comments and tell us their story.

💡🐾 Don’t Be Left in the Dark About Parasite Prevention! 🐾💡
When it comes to protecting your pets from fleas, ticks, and heartworms, prevention is key. These parasites aren’t just a nuisance—they can cause serious health problems for your furry family members.
At Koch Veterinary Services, we’re here to make sure you’re never left in the dark when it comes to keeping your pet protected.
🦟 Heartworms are spread by mosquitoes and can cause life-threatening damage to the heart and lungs.

🐜 Fleas can lead to skin irritation, allergies, and even tapeworm infections.
The good news is that year-round prevention can protect your pet from these parasites. Our team can help you choose the safest and most effective options based on your pet’s lifestyle and health needs.
✨ Prevention is simple. Treatment can be complicated.
📞 If you have questions about flea, tick, or heartworm prevention—or if your pet needs to get started on protection—contact Koch Veterinary Services today.
Because keeping your pet safe shouldn’t be a guessing game. 🐶🐱💙
