As the temperatures soar, it's crucial to ensure our furry friends stay safe and cool. Here are some essential tips to protect your pets from the heat:

🐶 **Common Heat-Related Injuries:**
- **Heat Stroke**: Rapid panting, bright red gums, and collapse.
- **Burnt Paw Pads**: Hot pavement can cause severe burns.
- **Dehydration**: Lethargy, dry gums, and sunken eyes.

🛡️ **How to Mitigate These Factors:**
- **Provide Shade and Water**: Always ensure your pets have access to shade and fresh water.
- **Avoid Hot Surfaces**: Walk your pets on grass or in shaded areas. Check the pavement with your hand before walks.
- **Limit Exercise**: Exercise your pets during cooler parts of the day, such as early morning or late evening.
- **Never Leave Pets in Cars**: Even with windows cracked, temperatures can rise dangerously fast.

Winston looks anywhere he wants to, even when I want a photo of him before he departs for his next duty station with his family. He’ll be headed to Fort Knox, Kentucky where I completed my AIT in 2002 as a Bradley Tank mechanic. Hope he enjoys Agony, Misery, and Heart Break as much as I did!

Please be careful out there. Watch your dogs closely, and keep them nearby. This is disgusting and I hope someone is caught quickly.

🔸️ ATTENTION: APPALACHIAN TRAIL DOG OWNERS & HIKERS 🔸️

Over the weekend, it was reported that a hiker found dog treats stuffed with fishhooks near the George W. Outerbridge shelter on the Appalachian Trail.

The incident occurred near the North Trail Loop leading to the shelter, on State Game Lands #217, in Washington Township, Lehigh County.

Items like these could prove deadly to any animal that consumes them, including wild and domesticated animals.

If anyone has any information about the incident or locates more findings, please call 1-833-PGC-WILD or 1-833-PGC-HUNT immediately.
