“BREAKING: GEORGE STRAIT & NORMA STRAIT OPEN A $15 MILLION STATE OF THE ART FREE CANE CORSO SANCTUARY ‘THIS IS OUR PROMISE TO THE VOICELESS AND THE BROKEN’”
The King and Queen of Country Music Have Turned Their Lifelong Love for Animals Into a Beautiful Mission Creating a Safe Haven Where Neglected and Abandoned Cane Corsos Will Finally Know What Love Feels Like
San Antonio, Texas May 21, 2026
In one of the most heartwarming acts Texas has ever witnessed, country music legend George Strait and his wife Norma Strait have officially opened a breathtaking $15 million sanctuary devoted entirely to rescuing, healing, and protecting abandoned, abused, and neglected Cane Corsos.
The beautiful new refuge, called “Strait Hearts Cane Corso Sanctuary,” sits on more than 200 acres of peaceful Texas countryside and was designed to provide lifetime care, medical treatment, emotional rehabilitation, and endless love for some of the most loyal and misunderstood dogs in America.
Inside the state of the art sanctuary are spacious indoor playrooms, cozy climate controlled living spaces, outdoor exercise yards, advanced veterinary clinics, and dedicated rehabilitation teams available around the clock. Every Cane Corso brought to the sanctuary will receive complete care entirely free of charge.
Standing beside several rescued Cane Corsos during the emotional ribbon cutting ceremony, George Strait shared a message that moved many attendees to tears:
“Norma and I have always believed that every soul deserves love and compassion. Too many of these incredible dogs have been abandoned, mistreated, or forgotten simply because people didn’t understand them. This sanctuary is our promise to the voiceless and the broken you are safe now, you are loved, and you’ll never be alone again.”
Norma Strait, who has quietly supported animal rescue efforts for years, held back tears as she spoke about the mission behind the sanctuary:
“These Cane Corsos are incredibly loyal, intelligent, and loving. Many of them come from painful situations filled with fear and neglect. We wanted to create a place where they can finally heal, feel safe, and learn to trust again. Every dog here will be treated like family for the rest of their lives.”
A Refuge Built With Compassion
The sanctuary includes specialized medical wings for senior and injured Cane Corsos, rehabilitation areas for fearful rescue dogs, enrichment play zones, and peaceful adoption cottages designed to help them transition into loving forever homes.
George and Norma have also partnered with rescue groups and shelters across Texas to help transport Cane Corsos from overcrowded facilities into safe, loving care.
During the grand opening, guests watched as several rescued Cane Corsos many saved from heartbreaking conditions happily played, wagged their tails, and cuddled beside the Straits. The emotional moment reminded everyone in attendance that even the smallest acts of kindness can completely change a life.
For decades, George and Norma Strait have quietly given back to their community. But this sanctuary may become their most meaningful legacy yet a living promise that compassion still exists in this world.
And now, thanks to them, thousands of forgotten souls will finally have a place to call home.
