☝🏽Fun fact FriYAYYY

🐾 German Shepherds were originally bred to herd and protect sheep, but today they can be trained to detect diseases, locate missing people, and even sniff out electronic devices because of their incredible sense of smell.

🐾 Yearly Checkups Are Very Important! 🩺

Regular wellness exams help us catch health concerns early and keep your pets feeling their best at every stage of life. Senior pets especially benefit from more in-depth testing because many conditions can develop silently with age.

✨ Asa recently received a Senior Wellness Panel, which included:

• Heartworm Test
• F***l Exam
• Urinalysis
• CBC (Complete Blood Count)
• Chemistry Panel
• T4 Thyroid Test
• And more!

These tests help evaluate your pet’s overall health, including organ function, thyroid levels, hydration, infection, diabetes screening, and more.

🐶🐱 Even if your pet seems healthy, yearly checkups are one of the best ways to ensure they stay happy and healthy for years to come.

📞 Call us today to schedule your pet’s wellness exam!

Cytauxzoonosis in Cats 🐱🩸

Cytauxzoonosis is a serious and often life-threatening disease spread by ticks. It is caused by a blood parasite called Cytauxzoon felis and is most commonly seen in cats.

⚠️ Signs to Watch For:
• High fever
• Loss of appetite
• Lethargy
• Difficulty breathing
• Pale or yellow gums
• Hiding or sudden weakness

🦟 How Do Cats Get It?
Cats become infected through the bite of an infected tick. Outdoor cats are at the highest risk, especially in warmer months. Bobcats are considered the natural host for this disease.

🩺 Can It Be Treated?
Early diagnosis and aggressive treatment greatly improve survival rates. If your cat seems suddenly ill, seek veterinary care immediately.

🛡️ Prevention is Key!
• Keep cats on year-round tick prevention
• Check pets regularly for ticks
• Limit exposure to wooded or brushy areas when possible
• When possible, keep your cat indoors

Tick prevention can save lives! Talk to your veterinarian about the best parasite prevention plan for your cat.

🐾 Fun Fact Friday! Pets Overheat Faster Than Humans

Dogs and cats don’t sweat like we do, so they rely on panting and limited cooling methods—making heatstroke a serious summer risk.

☀️ Ways to keep your pet cool:
• Always provide fresh, cool water (add ice cubes for extra chill)
• Walk early in the morning or later in the evening
• Keep pets indoors during peak heat hours (10 AM–4 PM)
• Use fans, A/C, or cooling mats
• Offer shaded areas if they’re outside
• Wet a bandana or towel with cool water for quick relief
• Avoid hot pavement (use the 7-second hand test)
• Never leave pets in parked cars, even for a minute

🩺 Heatstroke is an emergency—watch for heavy panting, drooling, weakness, or collapse.
