A very pregnant Chucklesā¤ļø She is due in just a couple days. Goober the other female that was paired is not looking as large. IF she does have a litter it will be on the smaller side, but I’m not 100% convinced the pairing took. I’ve given both girls tons of nesting material and they have been busy making the perfect spot for pups. I am excited to *hopefully* have pups here again very soonšŸ¤—

Marzipan has been busy making tunnels already!šŸ’• As always enrichment is a big thing here and it can be simple things from around the house…boxes, tubes, paper towels or toilet paper, bedding to dig and burrow in, etc. As much as I love a nice, big fancy set up with all the flashy things here’s your reminder that hamsters don’t know the difference between a niteangel hide and a couple boxes put together!

I finally have some good news to share with waiting adopters!!!
šŸŽ‰ Last night we had a successful pairing between Goober a sable longhair and Buckeye a yellow longhair cream carrier!šŸŽ‰
Hoping this success continues this week and we can have a couple more pairings. This time a year getting breedings to stick can be tricky, so I’m keeping my fingers crossed and will watch for signs of pregnancy over the next two weeks.

Hello fellow hammy lovers! A little update on what’s happening here-

I know I have a couple people waiting on my next litter. The hammies have not wanted to cooperate with my latest pairing antics. I will attempt again this week to pair and hopefully have at least one litter, but ideally two or three. With the loss of lollipop I have some of his line I would love to get pups from to continue my work on that line.
I did bring in couple new hamsters- a gorgeous, massive dove banded longhair female ā€œChucklesā€ to pair with my cinnamon male ā€œRazzleā€ & a sable longhair female ā€œGooberā€ to pair with Lollipop’s son ā€œBuckeyeā€ (side note about Goober, she is the worlds messiest hamsteršŸ˜‚)
I would love to pair Lollipop’s grandpup ā€œTootsie Popā€ a homozygous silver grey to ā€œKeroppiā€ a het silver grey dom spot to keep my silver grey lines going. These are my plans, but as always, it’s up to the hammies to do the work.
I have plenty of retirees that would love to live out their retirement with someone! If you’d like to love on an older hammy please reach out & as always, adopting a retiree will come with the option to adopt a pup from a future litter free of charge. Otherwise, the retirees will just live out their days here rent freešŸ’• If you’d like a list of our available retirees please shoot me a pm!
Other than that, the hammies have just been doing their hammy thing!

It is with a heavy heart I share the passing of the first hamster that started Bonbon Hamstery, Lollipop, a sweet boy with a curious personality! The sire of my first litter and a couple litters there after. I still have one of his daughters here and some of his grand pups!
Lollipop exceeded the life expectancy of a Syrian hamster and passed in peace. As he got older I could tell the age was wearing on him, but it didn’t slow him down too much. Loss is one of the hardest parts of breeding & these little guys steal our hearts in just a few short years.
If you have one of Lollipop’s pups or one of his grand pups hold them a little tighter today for me!

This! I tell all adopters to move at the pace of their pup. Some are comfortable interacting right away and others take longer. Each pup has its own personality and while I’ve handled each pup here quite a bit they have only known my home and myself from birth. All animals will take time to completely settle in to a new home and routineā¤ļø

When adopting new animals, keep the rule of 3 in mind!

Every animal will go at their own pace but this is the general rule of thumb. Remember to be patient with your new family members. They’re small little ones going through some big changes when moving environments!
