Howdy, RGV! My name is Whiskey, and I’m a 1 1/2 year old male Dachshund mix who just strutted into the Rio Grande Valley Humane Society.
Before I arrived, my humans took me to the vet for a top to bottom, spare no expense checkup. They wanted to make sure I was running like a well oiled machine. The results are in and guess what I’m awesome. Vaccines? Up to date. Health? A+. Personality? Off the charts.
I’m ready to find a new family to love, cuddle, and follow around like the loyal little shadow I am. Come meet me, I promise I’m even cuter in person.

On May 27, the Rio Grande Valley Humane Society was deeply honored to receive a generous bequest of $229,000.00 from the late Gilbert Graham. His widow, Jolene, joined us for a special check presentation as we celebrated his life and legacy.
Gilbert was not only a devoted husband and community member, but also a compassionate human being who deeply loved animals. His kindness and empathy were reflected in the way he chose to support organizations that protect and uplift those who cannot speak for themselves.
RGVHS was one of only three nonprofits chosen by Mr. Graham, alongside the Wounded Warrior Project and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. We are truly humbled to be included among such meaningful organizations.
Gilbert’s gift will directly support vital spay/neuter services and strengthen our adoption program, helping us save more animals across the Rio Grande Valley. To commemorate his generosity, our surgery room now bears his name on a dedicated plaque.
We extend our deepest gratitude to the Graham family. Gilbert’s legacy will continue to protect and uplift animals in need for many years to come.
