A quick reminder to everyone the results of severe matting can look terrifying. Have you ever brought your dog in matted and take them home to realize their ear/ears were bleeding? They must have been cut? This is more than likely a hematoma caused from mating in the tips of the ears. Matting restricts blood flow to the area, this means when all of the mats are removed, the blood rushes back to that area. Causing hematomas, and/or severe bruising. Shaking heads can lead to the tips of ears bursting, resulting in bleeding. This can happen all over the body. Bruising, rashes, scratches (matting can pull single hairs causing dogs to scratch in attempt to ease the pain.) Extremely severe matting can even lead to LOSING LIMBS. This includes tails, ears, feet. These parts of the body can actually die due to the lack of blood flow over an extended period of time and fall off. Please remember to take your dogs in regularly to prevent matting and keep them happy and healthy! Please remember we are not here to judge anyone. We’re here to help educate everyone and help keep your dogs healthy so they can get back to living the best life possible!i
