We founded our group in honor of a dear little dachshund named Sophia Grace. Sophia was a sweet little 12-year old dachshund who was rescued from a situation where she spent all her life without receiving any medical care. When she came into rescue she was severely malnourished, sickly and had to have nearly all her teeth pulled. Through the "Grace" of so many selfless contributors we were able to

get her the medical care that she so badly needed, and had been denied all her 12 years on earth. Sophia Grace lived out her final years in her forever home in Michigan where she thrived and grew stronger each day. It is in her honor that we founded our organization, and we will honor her with every dachshund we are able to help now and for many years to come!

Meet Koda — a boy who proves that a rough beginning doesn't define how bright your future can be. ❤️

Koda’s story started in a rural shelter, where he spent his first six months missing out on the early socialization every puppy deserves. Because of that, he had to learn the world from scratch and work through a few old habits along the way. Learning to navigate life when you started behind isn't easy, but Koda wakes up every single day ready to try. That resilience is what makes him so impossible not to fall in love with. 😍

With Friday right around the corner and the weekend ahead, we’re hoping this is the weekend Koda’s forever person finally finds him. 💕

Koda takes time to open up. He needs a patient heart who will let him set the pace and approach on his own terms — if you try to rush him, he’ll retreat into his shell. He definitely has a soft spot for women, who have been his main source of comfort and rehab work.

Because he has shown fearful reactions to tall, thin teenagers in the past (including defensive nipping without breaking skin), he needs an insightful home that understands slow, controlled introductions.

Once you earn Koda’s trust, the reward is endless. He transforms into the ultimate velcro dog: a head-in-your-lap couch cuddler, a playful companion who loves hard, and a sweet soul who has poured everything into his progress. 🥰

🐾 PUMPKIN’S UPDATE: FROM SURVIVOR TO THRIVER 🐾

Remember the heartbreaking Kentucky hoarding case involving 220 dogs? We have a wonderful update on sweet Pumpkin, who has been making incredible progress in her foster home! 🎃

When Pumpkin first arrived, she was understandably terrified. After her second medicated bath, she was still too scared to venture out of her safe room, though her curiosity was starting to show as she sniffed and watched the other dogs from afar. Her patient foster mom let her set the pace every step of the way.

Fast forward to her recent vet checkup, and the doctor was thrilled with how much she’s improved!

✨ Her latest wins:
✅ Medicated baths are down to just once a week!
✅ Her energy and comfort levels have skyrocketed since her initial vaccinations.
✅ She officially left her safe room and now hangs out with the whole family in the living room!
✅ She’s building trust with her foster mom every single day.
✅ She even made a new best friend—playing regularly with Betsy, the biggest dog in the house! 😆

Pumpkin’s foster mom also wanted to pass along a huge thank you to SGF’s Blanket Brigade who sent her beautiful blanket and toys. Pumpkin absolutely adores them. After everything she's been through, she is finally learning what it feels like to be safe, cherished, and loved. 😍

Happy ! 🐾

Today we’re celebrating the ultimate happy ending: former rescue pups who went from tough beginnings to living like absolute royalty in their forever homes! 🎉

Here are 5 heartwarming glow-ups to make your day:

🌭 Oscar was one of 29 dachshunds rescued by Adams County SPCA from a former breeder. Sixteen of these sweet pups were confined to a dark, hot basement—many hadn't felt grass under their paws or seen daylight in over three years. Now, Oscar is soaking up all the sunshine and soft blankets he can get!

👯 Rizzo + Winnie were found as strays, this duo spent nearly two years waiting in foster care. The best part? Their foster family fell so hard in love that they made it official and adopted them both!

👑 Monica was sweet breeder surrender who moved into foster care and immediately stole everyone's hearts—so much so that her foster family couldn't bear to let her go!

🌀 Swirl was an adorable Pomeranian went from a breeder surrender to living her best, fluffiest life as a cherished family member.

🐕‍🦺🐕 Opie & Jax were surrendered by their owner and spent nearly two years waiting patiently in foster care. Their long wait is officially over, and they're finally getting all the love they deserve!

Happy ! Meet Molly! 🐾❤️

This sweet girl came to us as a retired breeding dog, and she is officially learning how to be the pampered princess she always deserved to be! While she’s still figuring out the whole "family pet" gig, she has come so far in foster care.

Molly’s Personality & Highlights:
🤪 Goofy & Playful: Once she warms up to you, her silly side comes out! Expect lots of excited prancing and happy dances at breakfast and dinner time.
🪜Stair Master (In Progress): She has successfully mastered walking up the 3 steps from the breezeway to the kitchen! Going down is still a bit spooky, so she loves being carried like the queen she is.
🚙 Car Rides & Crates: She is a great car passenger! She also doesn't mind her crate once inside, though she might need a little gentle coaxing to head in.
🧸 Teddy Bear Status: Molly is essentially a giant living teddy bear. She isn't automatically a lap dog, but once her foster mom lifts her onto the couch, she soaks up all the love.

What She Needs in a Forever Home:
🤫 A Quiet Environment: Molly startles easily at loud or unfamiliar noises (thunder and fireworks are a hard no!). She is working on leash training, so a secure, fenced yard is a must for her safety.
😌 The Right Household: Best suited for an adult-only home without high-energy dogs. A calm, balanced dog sibling would be wonderful for her to model her behavior after!
💕 Patience & Understanding: She needs an adopter who understands decompression time, respects her boundaries, and is ready to give her time to blossom at her own pace.

Cyan was last seen on Sunday night around 9:30 PM near Morse Road and Sunbury Road along the woods and creek side in Columbus, OH.

❗️PLEASE DO NOT CHASE, CALL OUT, OR CORNER HER❗️

Lost and frightened dogs will run, even from friendly faces. If you spot her, please keep eyes on her from a distance and report her location immediately.

✅ Stop and stay calm. Do not pursue or attempt to catch her.
✅ Note her exact location, direction of travel, and time.
✅ Take a photo or quick video if you can do so safely without scaring her.
