We wanted to let everybody know that we have our old phone number back(717-632-1929). Also, we’ve added the ability to send and receive text with that number. We are still working out some kinks on how to use the new set up since it is now on a mobile line. If you get the voicemail, the message will encourage you to call our 717-632-5446 number. Otherwise there might be a delay with us pulling up your Voicemail on the mobile line.

Just a reminder to our customers that we no longer have access to our 717-632-1929 number. Back in January, Brightspeed, Internet, and phone talked us into signing up with their service. They promised that they would install the service in 14 days. They never showed up or called to reschedule. After multiple calls and multiple reschedulings and multiple no-shows, they canceled the account in June without notice and lost our phone number.

We have been working with the FCC and the PUC to get this resolved. After the complaint was filed, Bright speed initially said they had made the number available to port back to our old carrier, but the temporary account number they provided is not active according to their customer service people who have no knowledge of any of my case numbers or accounts or that were given by the company to resolve the FCC complaint issue. Please use our 717-632-5446 number to reach us at the office. We will let everybody know if we ever receive our old phone number back again.

Spa Day for Mr Tramp.

We hope all of our customers are enjoying this winter season. We look forward to seeing your dogs this upcoming year.

We wanted to share a change in the Pennsylvania dog law that will potentially affect our Maryland customers. In October, the PA legislature pass SB746 which helped to modernize the Bureau of Dog Law Enforcement. While most of the changes were needed, we were surprised by a new regulation that requires all out of state boarding dogs to have a certificate of veterinary inspection on an official USDA or state equivalent form. This requires the Maryland customer to first schedule a veterinary appointment with an accredited MD vet and pay for a health certificate/exam before their dog can cross the border into Pennsylvania and enter a boarding kennel. As far as I can tell from the language, this only applies to boarding and not for seeking other services with your dog or attending events in Pennsylvania. We understand if our Maryland customers are unable to board with us due to the increased cost of obtaining a health certificate every time they want to come to our kennel. We also ask all of our customers to write your local state, representatives and senators, and ask that this rule be changed. This law change, almost cuts our service area in half right at the Mason Dixon line. We are still waiting for confirmation from the state dog warden about whether this law will be enforced. Please contact us before making a booking if you are based in Maryland.

We are reinstating our mask requirement. No exceptions. Please do not enter our office without a mask. We will be happy to take care of you outside in the parking lot if you can not wear a mask.

With the rising cases, there is now a greater chance that our staff could be affected with the high volume of customers coming in.

If The majority of our staff were to come down with Covid and test positive, technically we would have to close the kennel down and require dogs to leave.

Our goal is to make it through this holiday season without asking our customers to return from their trips to get their dogs.

Happy Thanksgiving from Lakeside Pet Resort.

Even on holidays we are hard at work. But the work is easy when you love what you do and your home is only 500 feet away.

Today I wanted to cover a serious issue that many kennels and other dog business face. Every year during the summer boarding season the risk of getting kennel cough increases as there are more boarders than any other time of the year from different areas.

Kennel cough or it’s official name, canine infectious tracheobronchitis is passed from dog to dog by close contact or via the air. Usually symptoms show up 7-10 days after exposure allowing a dog to spread it before anyone realizes they are affected.

Talking with several veterinarians in the region we have found that there seems to be a new variant affecting dogs that is not covered by the bordatella vaccine. This combined with the increase in travel for 2021, a high increase in dog ownership and a year of almost no travel for 2020 have made the 2021 boarding season much riskier than previous years.

We are closely monitoring the dogs in our care in addition to our heavy daily cleaning routine. So far we have only had a couple isolated cases earlier in the summer that we are aware of. Those dogs were separated from the rest and went home.

It’s is important to know that by boarding your dog with us, you do so at your own financial risk. The best method for preventing kennel cough is to avoid taking your dog anywhere they can be near new dogs. I’m many cases that is hard to do. In the end the cough is rarely fatal and is similar to the common cold.

It is important for us to be upfront to our customers about this. If you have any questions feel free to call us or email us.

We wanted to let everyone know that we are booked full for July 4th weekend and the following weekend. Feel free to call us to see if we have any cancellations or openings. If you made an online reservation with the intention of possibly adding a day or two, please call us first. We are asking our customers to stick with the dates they originally picked as we have very little wiggle room for space.
