There has been a huge increase lately in local, non-registered home kenneling, grooming, mobile grooming operating out of pet owners’ homes, dog walking, training services, and more being advertised online. I normally stay quiet on this topic, but as someone who has spent years in the pet industry, I genuinely feel concerned for the pets in our community.

Not every individual offering these services is unqualified — but unfortunately, many are inexperienced, uninsured, undereducated, or lacking proper sanitation and safety protocols. Caring for animals comes with a tremendous amount of responsibility, and when proper education, handling knowledge, insurance, and sanitation practices are missing, serious issues can happen.

We are talking about live animals. Even the sweetest pets can have accidents, bites, illnesses, injuries, or unpredictable reactions. Pet owners also put themselves at risk when services are not insured or operating professionally.

Seeing things like a “$15 mobile grooming service” using plastic tubs that absorb bacteria, or in-home pet sitting with no insurance coverage, is honestly alarming.

Please do your research before choosing care for your pets. Ask questions. Verify experience, insurance, safety practices, and sanitation methods.

Cheaper is not always the safest or best option for your pet. 🤦🏻‍♀️ 🐾🐾🐶🐶
