Hey everyone. Its been a while.
Posting is gonna be slow until I get some normalcy in my schedule again. Work has been extra stressful lately and I haven't had any time for anything more than basic care.
Good news is, im still collecting and hatching eurys!
Another Agricolae popped out yesterday ☺️ this wee one was spicy 🤣

Hi everyone!
This is going to be a long post, be forewarned. 😩

It's been hard to post lately. Life is very busy, and it's only getting more busy. I made a post on my personal page but wanted to share on here, too. I am thinking of selling all or most of my crested geckos and focusing on smaller projects like my Eurys and my one pair of leachies. It's for multiple reasons, and I am sure most of you can understand them.

I feel guilty not giving them the attention I feel they deserve.
I do not have time to photograph and list all of them, and I know that with how the current market is, that is going to be the only way to stay relevant and make sales. My job is demanding of my time, even when I am not there. I spend only a handful of hours a week in the reptile room to feed them, so I dont get to enjoy them as much as I want. It was different when they were in my face in my old apartment. I looked at them every day.

The quality of projects I produce aren't good enough for breeders and are "too nice" for people who just want a pet. The lack of sales hurts in multiple ways...
With the market and how it is, I used to be a good starting place for people looking to get into breeding. But with the current economy and the market, my animals are not desired. I shouldn't be taking it personally because I understand logically why I can't sell them, but it still hurts me that I can only sell adoption animals for 40 bucks or less at expos. Even when I price my nicer stuff at fair market price or under, they don't sell, and it makes me feel like I am the problem 😅

I am very limited on space and I want what's best for my animals.
I'm not the only breeder that has run into this problem but again, it makes me feel guilty. I love these animals and the last thing I want is to feel like Im not providing the best life for them. When my husband and I bought our house and I finally got my reptile room... It was already too small and I wasn't able to take the bigger room. Most of my produced stock from 2022 and 2023 are sub-adults and need upgrades. I do not have the physical room to give them their adult habitats.

This is a Claymore x Nel baby that just popped out! But I can hear you asking... wasn't that last year's pairing? Yes! Crested Geckos and many other species can hold onto s***m for over a year 😱 This baby popped out of a fertile egg laid by Nel just a couple months ago. She's laid duds ever since, so that was the last one... but it still goes to show that even after months of not laying, they can retain s***m that entire time during their off-season! Nature is mysterious and beautiful 😊

I didn't get many photos of this year, but I have so many takeaways!
This was my first year vending, but it was not my first year visiting. Being a vendor was so much more fun and interactive than I thought it would be. And I'm so thankful that I got to meet and talk to so many people while here!
The first thing I learned is... come on Thursday, not Friday 😅🤣 It took me most of the day Friday during VIP time to get set up. I wanted everything to be perfect, but that's my own fault... plus, I missed out on the Chicken Run dinner the night prior 😭
The second thing I learned is... no matter who you are, you will find your niche and your group of people. The more you go, the more people you get familiar with and the more friends you make! It was amazing seeing and meeting so many people this weekend.
The third but most important thing I'm taking home is... everyone is human, and seeing everyone in person reminds you that they are not just words on a screen on the internet. It is so much easier to interact with everyone in person than it is online, and it's important to remember that text doesn't always come off with the same tone as if you were to speak. This is important since now that I know more about these people and how they act, I have a different level of understanding of their words.
Last but not least, keep doing what works for you. If your animals are healthy and you're confident in your care, that's what matters. There are so many different ways of taking care of crested geckos for example, that people tend to think their own way is the only right way. But it's simply not true. I want to share more information about how I care for my animals, and I don't want anyone to be afraid to ask me how I take care of my stock. I will always openly answer questions or give advice, I just don't think I've ever officially put that out there in words online, but it has always been something spoken about in person with people.
Thank you to everyone I met and everyone who wants to be friends! I hadnt gotten to take any selfies with anyone 😞 even bribing with free stickers 🤣 but I'll try harder next year, I need to break out of my shell more ❤️

Remember that baby who had an eye deformity at birth? I still have them and they're going strong!
Definitely has reduced vision in the eye but I don't believe it's 0%.
Once this wee one is big enough that I feel comfortable, they will be put up for adoption with a very small adoption fee (just to cover some of the food and shipping, if any) 😊
