🩷 This one was for Leo 🩷

Emma and Melody have a story that has become so incredibly special. Emma had ridden Melody on and off for quite some time before taking her on full-time after we lost our very special boy, Leo, in March.

This show was supposed to be Leo’s first show of the season. It was supposed to be the one we brought him to, the one we had looked forward to, and the one Emma would have gotten to experience with him..

Instead, Emma trotted into that ring with Melody and carried a little piece of Leo with her.

Since March, Emma has worked so hard. She’s pushed through her nerves, built her confidence, worked on herself, and helped teach Melody how to be a show horse. This entire season has had one goal in the back of our minds.. “Ride for Leo”. 🕊️

And this weekend, they did just that.

Emma & Melody made their very first victory pass. 🏆

I don’t think I could have written a more perfect moment for them. A victory pass at the very show that was supposed to be Leo’s. I know he was there with her in some way, and I know he would be so incredibly proud.

Emma, I am beyond proud of you. Watching you grow, overcome your nerves, and build this partnership with Melody has been one of the most special parts of this season.

This one will always mean a little more. ❤️

🎉 TJS Equestrian is officially ONE YEAR old! 🎉

One year ago (yesterday), I took a leap of faith and opened the doors to TJS Equestrian. Looking back, I never could have imagined how much we would accomplish in just 12 months.

To every client who trusted me with their riding journey, every family who spent countless hours at the barn, every friend who jumped in to help when I needed an extra hand, and every person who has supported TJS Equestrian in any way… thank you. 🩷 This barn would not be what it is today without all of you.

Over the past year, we’ve celebrated first rides, conquered fears, earned blue ribbons, made unforgettable memories at horse shows, welcomed new horses and riders, and most importantly, built an incredible barn family. Watching each rider gain confidence, develop new skills, and create special bonds with our horses has been the most rewarding part of this journey.

The growth we’ve experienced has been nothing short of amazing. What started as a dream has become a supportive, encouraging community where everyone cheers each other on, works hard, and has fun doing it. Seeing how far each of our riders has come is truly bittersweet.. they’ve all grown so much, and I couldn’t be more proud.

As we celebrate this milestone, I’m even more excited for what’s ahead. We have so many goals, dreams, and adventures still to come, and I can’t wait to continue growing alongside each and every one of you.

From the bottom of my heart, thank you for believing in TJS Equestrian and helping make this first year so incredibly special. Here’s to many more years of learning, laughter, horse shows, friendships, and unforgettable memories.

We’re back from an incredible NEFHC Horse Show! The horses are enjoying a well deserved day off before lessons start back up this week.

We want to give a huge thank you to all of our clients, barn family, and friends for their help, understanding, and support throughout the show. From chilly mornings to hot afternoons and evenings, rain, and even a microburst on the first night, everyone worked together, stayed positive, and made the weekend a success. ⭐️

This was one of the largest horse shows ever held at Deerfield, and our riders represented TJS Equestrian so well. The competition was tough, but when we earned ribbons, they were great ribbons! We are incredibly proud of every rider and horse who stepped into the ring. 🤩

Pretty Priceless Knight 👑 made her hunter debut and earned top honors both times in the Walk-Trot Pleasure Horse Open class. She also carried her riders to impressive ribbons in large walk-trot classes with Melina Karavas and academy classes with Colette Martin.

Alotta Shasta 🦄 brought home three Reserve Champion honors!! One in Western Horse In Hand out of 8, and two in Open English Show Hack with Gabriella Ashkenazy. She also earned top honors in Academy Leadline Equitation with Sophie Gonyer.

TJS Melody 🎵 and Emma McMahon learned a lot this week about riding in busy classes, staying focused, and trusting each other. After two challenging classes, they came back stronger than ever and finished the show with their best rides yet, including a 5th place finish out of 13 riders in the Walk-Trot Equitation 11 & Over Championship.

Electro Shoc MA ⚡️ stepped away from the main ring and competed in Western Dressage, earning top honors in the WDAA Intro Level Test 1 with Jackson Smart. This team has a bright future ahead!

TJS Finnesse 🥰 competed in two large open classes and, while he didn’t bring home a ribbon, he had some of the best rides of his career. He was steady, confident, and consistent, and we couldn’t be prouder. He also teamed up with Kinslee Smart in the Open Lead Line Walk Only class to earn a 2nd place finish. We think the unicorn horn may have helped!

We are so proud of all of our horses and riders for their hard work, sportsmanship, and dedication.

Next stop: the NH Arab Summer Jubilee! 🤩⭐️

We’re officially underway at NEFHC! 🦄 Ella & Shasta took a 2nd place out of 8 in the Western Horse In hand this AM! We have a strong go list for the day & can’t wait to get everyone in the ring!

Yesterday, I introduced a new team, but today I want to recognize a team that has been building something special over the past few months.

Ella and Shasta weren’t originally supposed to be a team. After Ella lost her heart horse last year and then faced complications with another, Shasta stepped in for Ella’s senior year on the equestrian team.

Learning a new horse is never easy. Learning a new horse while also taking on new divisions and patterns is even more challenging. But Ella met every challenge with determination, hard work, and a willingness to learn.

Shasta did her part too—though she certainly didn’t make it easy! She pushed Ella to work harder, communicate more clearly, and develop patience along the way. Together, they learned to trust each other and grow as partners.

Watching these two come together as a team has been incredibly rewarding. Shasta had some very big shoes to fill and may never truly replace the horse that came before her, but watching her give her whole heart to a rider who gives her whole heart right back has been something special.

Ella, I am so proud of everything you have accomplished, but even more proud of the rider and horsewoman you have become. Your dedication, resilience, and commitment have truly paid off.

Congratulations on finishing your senior year of equestrian team competition with a 1st and 2nd place finish at the State Championships! 🤩🩷🐴🏆

With only two weeks until NEFHC, we're excited to introduce our newest team! 👀

These girls have put in a tremendous amount of effort, learning a whole new horse just weeks before their next show. This requires a lot of grit and determination. I praise these girls for their patience with me and themselves as they learn this new horse on short notice 🩷

We're eagerly awaiting Melina & Colette’s debut with “Pretty Priceless Knight” aka Phoebe 🤩 Be sure to cheer them on in the walk-trot and academy divisions

1st horse show in the books & it couldn’t have been better! 🤩 We had some new riders & some seasoned riders in the ring!

Alotta Shasta & Ella Ashkenazy -🥇🥇🥈
This team came in with just some goals & came out with unforgettable memories. Ella has been putting in work the past couple months, learning to be a relaxed rider & the dedication shows. Her wins this weekend will be ones to remember forever!

Alotta Shasta & Colette Martin -
These two have been working together for almost a year, and Colette has been riding for under a year. Watching her compete in her first official show was something extremely special 🩷

Alotta Shasta & Sophie Gonyer -
This kiddo puts in the work & dedication weekly, always showing up to impress & she did just that this weekend in her first ever lead line class! She went in first, confident & with the biggest smile! I cannot wait to watch her flourish 🤩

Alotta Shasta & Melina Karavas -
These two have also been a team for about a year. Even though Melina has moved up to more advanced horses at home, she still is able to appreciate Shasta especially when she takes her for her first official trip around the Deerfield show ring 🥰

TJS Melody & Emma McMahon -
Emma had been working hard over the winter with Leo & after losing him suddenly, she teamed back up with Melody for the season. She went in after learning lots at the fair last year & went in stronger this year! I can’t wait to watch this team grow!

Electro Shoc MA & Teylah Smart - 🥇
This gelding has made his second show ring appearance as a hunter & he’s proving himself well! We have lots to work on, but I’m confident he’ll continue his show days!

TJS Finnesse, Teylah Smart & Stephanie Laplume -🥈
This little gelding has proved himself as a show ring star in just one weekend! From when we got him, to now he has changed & grown in many ways. I cannot wait to watch him turn into the greatest show horse he can be! 🥰

We’re all officially home & I can’t end this without thanking all the wonderful moms, dads, friends, family & peers who helped make this show possible & memorable for all!! Show season is finally here & we are SO excited 🤩
