April 12, 2026 BLUE MARLIN ADOPTED…..FINALLY! HOORAY!

It’s been a long road baby! The foster parents that had BLUE FISH & BLUE MARLIN contacted me. Since our poor poor kitty, BLUE FISH, passed away, BLUE MARLIN has been so sad & depressed. MARLIN developed a UTI and had to go to the vet.

Both BLUE FISH & BLUE MARLIN had been so close and had been together for over two years.

The foster mom, shown above, had been wanting to rehome both cats for over a year now which has been very stressful for me.

The husband had gotten a large very energetic dog that wanted to chase the cats. Keeping the cats & the dog separated was causing problems. The wife wanted to keep the cats & the husband wanted to keep the new dog.

As time passed, and BLUE FISH passed away unexpectedly, BLUE MARLIN became very attached to and dependant on the wife. She gave him meds to help with his UTI and said that MARLIN was sleeping with her.

The dog had seemed to make a little progress in training & the wife and I both agreed that a rehoming for MARLIN right now would be horrible & stressful for him.

She talked with her husband & he finally agreed to let her keep MARLIN & adopt him!

April 16, 2026 URGENTLY NEED A FOSTER HOME FOR A SWEET, LOVING MAMA AND 4 BEAUTIFUL KITTENS! Last week a lady dropped off a stray cat at Sound Cat Veterinary Hospital. The lady said the kitty was having problems (but wasnt her kitty. She was having kittens!

Sound Cat called me & said they don't keep moms & babies! I went & got them & unfortunate, since im out of room at the rescue, the mom & FOUR kittens are at my house!

I promised my husband i would NOT bring any more cats & kittens home if i opened a rescue

The cat is SUPER friendly & the 4 kittens are adorable. I don't have any room at FURR, but I do want them at FURR as soon as possible because this mama THRIVES on attention & love!

I don't have time or space to give her what she needs!

Thanks!

March 22, 2026 Great news today! MINNIE was adopted & went to her new “FURR-ever” home! This young couple just fell in love with her & visa versa! MINNIE really took to them & rubbed on them, gave them lots of head bumps & ate treats!

I feel great about this match up and I broke the news to Alyssia today. She was happy for MINNIE & sad at the same time. Alyssia rescued MINNIE near the Surf City bridge, but turned her over to FURR because of her animal menagerie at home (new puppy & several cats) was not working out.

March 16, 2026 Lilac is adopted by her Foster parents! We have foster failures among us & I couldn’t be happier!!!

Laura & Jim have been fostering our adorable little LILAC, the kitten I pulled from Duplin County pound. It was a fluke and a long story about how I got involved with this rescue, but I’m so glad I did! Read this story dated Dec. 15, 2025 below!

Laura is recovering from her 2nd hip replacement surgery & she is doing well. We miss her at FURR, but we know she will be back when she is able.

Meanwhile, Laura & Jim have fallen in love with Lilac and Lilac loves the dogs and all the other cats!

Feb. 26, 2026 FURR needs FOSTER homes!!! If anyone knows anyone that can take in a cat or two for temp foster, please let me know! We have so many wonderful cats! FURR's email: [email protected]

Fosters should be prepared to spend time with the cat(s) and able to keep them in a totally separate room.

Please also be prepared to notify me at least 2 weeks in advance if you're no longer able to continue to fostering! Thank you!

Feb. 15, 2026 LEMA was adopted & I feel really good about it! The young retired couple just fell in love with her at FURR. Of course, what’s not to love! I had a LOT of inquiries on LEMA, but this seemed like the best fit.

The couple has another 3 yr old shy kitty that needed a friend. They also had an adorable little senior dog.

LEMA has adjusted well for only being at her new home for 2 days. I think this adoption is gonna be a success!

We will really miss LEMA @ FURR! She was so friendly & she was our door greeter for room 1!

He had 3 broken canine teeth pulled and 1 canine was gone! Luckily, he did not have any other problems, such as stomatitis or gingivitis. His mouth looked really good. I'm sure those broken canines were quite painful.

I was actually rubbing him a little without my bite glove on, after the surgery, but he was still somewhat sedated. This is one gorgeous cat. I hope I can get him tame ready for adoption, but only time will tell.

He will be able to leave his large crate tomorrow and roam around the large master bathroom. Then he can climb some cat trees, look out the window and be free to run around a bit!

Wish me luck working with this humongous kitty!

Feb. 15, 2026 Meet Treasure, our handsome new male kitty! Urgent fundraiser for his March 30th dental surgery to remove broken teeth. He also has an injured paw and need to be neutered. How horrible and painful for him! This new cat is HUGE, prob about 15 pounds.

He just got neutered, shots, etc. I am working with him every day to try and figure out what to do with him, but please do NOT open his cage! I will take care of him myself.

TREASURE was abandoned by his caretaker & a friend asked me to take him in. His vet visit reported that he has an injured paw (already healed & calcified), he is FIV+, his teeth are HORRIBLE and he needs FULL MOUTH EXTRACTIONS.

His dental surgery is scheduled for March 30th, but he is in the waiting list to get him in sooner. TREASURE has 3 canines broken in half, horrible other teeth & his full mouth surgery can be anywhere from $1,200 to $1,500.

I hate that he is in pain & has been in pain all this time living as a feral. I hope they can get him in sooner.

April 13, 2026 FLOUNDER is doing great! Latest photo above! I took him to the vet this past week (along with several other cat visits to Sound Cat!) and repeated his PCR test (swab eyes & back of throat). He was a trooper & no sedation needed. I just held him & he knew I was with him. He has really come a long long way from being VERY feral to just a “mushster”!

Will take a few days to get the results, but hoping PCR will show that he is not contagious any more for the calici virus (Kitty pneumonia) which is contagious. It is much less contagious to cats that are vaccinated & all of ours have been, but airing on the side of caution. Just cant wait to get him out of that bathroom he has been locked up in for EIGHT weeks!

Say a prayer for FLOUNDER! Enjoy his video below!

March 19, 2026 Video update of FLOUNDER! He's getting better everyday!: https://youtube.com/shorts/AEuz3bTiSwQ?si=L1e1ztpWqA9cmfv1

March 8, 2026 Update on Flounder - Its been a challenge & very, very slow improvement, but I can finally say, I am hopeful, as you can see in this video: https://youtube.com/shorts/gKzcHabtinA?si=l3m322hP9ACUnKgG

A couple days ago, FLOUNDER began nibbling a little bit on his dry food. He is also drinking a little water on his own.

Yesterday, he took a brief moment to pick his paw.

Today, he was purring & that made me cry. After 11 days of tube feeding this kitty 3 times a day while his eyes were closed, he just laid there with his head buried, I'm finally seeing some improvement.

Feb. 25, 2026 After successful dental surgery, Flounder is not doing well in recovery this week.

Flounder is the little black feral I took to Sound Cat last Monday & had all his teeth pulled (to the tune of $1,700!!!), but unfortunately, he has not done well so far.

I dropped him off at Sound Cat, our Vet, this am. He is not eating, he is very lethargic & quite congested.

Please say a prayer for this little feral cat. He doesn’t deserve any of this!

Feb. 15, 2026 Urgent Fundraiser needed for poor Flounder's dental issues! For the fast couple of weeks, I noticed him, one of the black feral kitties in the FURR Sanctuary, seemed thin, lethargic and not well.

I noticed that Flounder started to seem congested also, so I had to get him to the vet. After several days, I finally got Flounder in my net and got him to Sound Cat. It is so difficult to care for a feral colony because the cats are not tame. It is extremely difficult to catch them.

Flounder had horrible breath, horrible teeth and needs a full mouth of dental extractions! He also had a horrible infection and was dripping bloody mucus from his nose as you can see in this photo. How painful and horrible for him!

He is scheduled for dental surgery on Feb. 16. It will cost around $1,200 - $1,500 for him in addition to the $300 I've already spent from his original vet assessment last week.

Please donate quickly and securely today via FURR's PayPal! link: https://www.paypal.com/donate/?hosted_button_id=L8A6NKTNRF89A

Since Flounder's surgery moved up, that opened a dental surgery spot for the new feral, TREASURE, on Mar 30th.

Please say a prayer that Flounder's surgery goes well and that all of his infections will go away. Poor kitty!!!
