🎉 Our sweet Togo is FIVE today! 🎂💙

I can’t believe it’s been five years since this handsome blue-eyed boy bounced into our lives. From the moment he was born, we knew he was special—but we had no idea just how much light, love, and laughter he would bring us. 🐾

Togo is our golden child and cuddle king. He’s grown from the tiniest bowtie-wearing pup into one of the most stunning, soulful, and affectionate dogs I’ve ever known (yes, I’m totally biased—and totally right! 😉).

Happy 5th birthday, Togo Bear! You make every single day better. 💙💫

This class applies to every dog, every puppy and every owner and trainer. From the day you receive your puppy you set the tone for success or failure for the lifetime of your dog. Please read this and be it a dog who will be herding livestock in a trial or a pet who will be a member of your family in your home and day to day activities this wonderful piece of information that pertains to all.

One of the most powerful steps you can take as a trainer is to change your mindset from,
‘How can I get my dog to do it’ to
‘How can I get my dog to Want to do it’—

Stress for dogs, often comes from the teacher, not the task.
For some dogs, the resentment for the phase of work that was forced upon them, stays with them and could have been avoided if the handler had changed their approach.
For example, if you make a new concept difficult, even inadvertently, such as,
having expectations of how quickly your dog should learn, how proficient he should be, the wrong set-up
or if you try to force behavior, it could be that you are creating the stress that your dog then associates with that task.
—At the onset of training, it’s extremely important to differentiate, is the training issue one you can change VS. is it a genetic predisposition, that you can improve and manage but not organically alter.

Trying to force a dog to ‘push through’ an issue that stems from their genetics (ie too much eye, inherently wide, inherently fearful etc) is almost always to the detriment of the dog.
Instead, this is when you need knowledge and experience to help your dog or the self awareness to seek help from an expert.

Just like people, dogs can get bored when you do the same thing too often,
frustrated when it’s too arduous or disheartened when too often being told ‘you’re wrong’.

Instead of trying to accelerate your dogs training timeline, focus on your consistency, development and improvement as a teacher.
It's your continuous effort to adjust to your dogs response and body language that will help your dog become the best he can be.
Handlers sometimes find themselves waiting...for the day when they, win the competition, succeed at “X” , are acknowledged by their peers, or other.
Don’t let the pursuit of tomorrow diminish the joy of today, for you or your dog.

These 12 week old males are getting their brain exercise while digging for pig fat in their Kong toys! We feed our pups a lot of homemade foods, much of it from our own ranches! Give us a holler to learn more about these smart boys!

So many good people sharing the love of Jesus and not wanting anything in return.

"This woman needs to be commended. A gentleman was checking in for his flight when the agent asked how old his daughter was. He said she had recently turned two. The agent then asked if she had a ticket. The man was confused because he was under the impression she could ride for free. (When he booked the ticket, she was one but her birthday was in January.) He was hit with emotion. He mentioned he couldn't afford to rebook this flight or get her the ticket with such short notice. He stepped aside and tried to make a few calls. Hugging his daughter and grabbing his head, you could tell he was heartbroken. This woman next to him at the front counter heard the whole thing. She walked over to him and asked what was wrong. After they talked for a bit they walked up to the counter together.
She pointed back at his daughter and said,
'I wanna buy her ticket.'
The agent said 'You know how much this ticket costs right?'
The woman responded '$700 something?'
'$749' the agent said.
The woman said 'that's fine' and pulled out her credit card. I was right there and I just said to her, 'God Bless You!' and they printed out the ticket. The agent kept talking about her goosebumps while the man hugged the woman and asked for her name to repay her. The woman just kept saying, 'Don't worry about it.' She knew she wanted to help that man and his daughter no matter what the cost. Please share this story because people like this need to be recognized."

How sweet is this! From a wonderful couple who have become members of our Gold Creek Ranch Border Collies family. We had a wonderful time hosting them when picking up their GCR Lucy. They even gave Kevin the puppy wrangler his own cookie!
