Choice. - Emily Markham Equestrian has an exciting lease opportunity coming available!

Dutch is a 12yo Standardbred who has been off the track for ~2 years now. He is very personable and extremely athletic, making him a barn favorite. Dutch receives weekly training rides and also teaches some lessons, but would really benefit from more time under saddle! He is safe with no buck/bolt/rear and no funny business. Loves to be groomed, bathed, and loved on. He is currently going solid walk/trot under saddle but will be working to develop his canter as training progresses. He would make a really fun HUS or dressage project and could definitely be ready to do some shows in the spring. While he is extremely safe and kind, he would be better suited for a more advanced/intermediate rider as he can be quite forward and would be most fun for a rider with a strong core and good sense of their own balance.

Dutch is located at Zittel’s Boston View Stables in Hamburg, NY. There is a large outdoor, indoor arena, and access to trails. If you are looking to increase your time in the saddle and at the barn, please send me a message to schedule a time to come meet Dutch and discuss leasing options!

Come along for the ride! 🐴🧘🤝

Willow
2017 Palomino (with chrome!)
Around 15hh but stout (I’m 5’9 and she takes up my leg)
QH cross (grade) mare
East Aurora, NY

Looking to turn some heads in the hunter ring? Or a flashy new dressage partner?
Come meet Willow - she is looking for her new person!

Willow has jumped, been on trails, dabbled in barrel racing, and she was in dressage training last summer. She is an athletic mare who would best excel in the hunter ring or possibly even eventing. What she lacks in confirmation, she makes up for in “try.” This mare is very aware of her feet and impressive in pole work. She is quite brave over fences and really seems to enjoy jumping.

Willow has been in a hunter/jumper lesson program in the past, but she would be much better suited as someone’s personal horse. She is a typical “mare” and needs someone who understands that mares like to be asked, not told, what to do 😅. She does like having a “person” and when she is with a partner she trusts, she really tries to please and gives it her all. She would be a fun horse for a young professional to develop, or a confident amateur working with a trainer. She needs a confident rider, preferably one who likes mares as she is one who likes to be involved in the conversation and can be particular.

Willow has been out of work this winter due to the lack of an indoor arena, so she will need a tune up for her fitness and topline. I got on her after several months of not being ridden, and she was great. She is an easy keeper and currently barefoot with good feet. Solid ground manners, UTD with farrier, shots, wormer and has been turned out in a herd. She is currently living with just one other horse, and she can be a little buddy sour in this situation.

Asking low $🥕🥕,### starting with a “1”, but finding the right match is most important! Serious offers will be considered to the most perfect home. Send me a message for more information & videos, or to schedule a time to come meet her!

Proud trainer moment at the WNY Morgan show this weekend with Lisa Marie Towne & Carra! 🥹🦄

It’s been a full year since we’ve started working together, and I can’t express how pleased I am with Lisa’s hard work and commitment to learning. She has strengthened her posture, made huge improvements in the use of her aids, and discovered how to manage her energy. Carra’s topline and distribution of muscle has improved greatly, and Lisa is figuring out how to influence Carra’s balance so that she is able to relax and use her back.

Carra has some anxiety in this particular show ring, so our goal was just to have a solid ride where Lisa felt like she could keep Carra relaxed, balanced, and listening. They had a great schooling ride after arriving on Thursday and some good moments during their first couple of classes on Friday. Things really came together Saturday morning in their final class - Lisa was able to get a trot that wasn’t quick and rushing, and even had some true walk steps. Bonus points: a reserve champion ribbon and a chance to show off in a victory lap! 🥳🏆

Every day I’m grateful I get to work with such wonderful people and horses, and to be a part of their story and their success. The gift is each other. 🐴🧘🤝

Exciting news for CHOICEEQ! 🥳🍾

I’m thrilled to officially announce this partnership, which has been in the works for a few months now. CHOICEEQ will have space to call “home” to offer boarding and training packages, streamline our lesson program, and continue to build a caring and supportive community that is inclusive and fun.

There are only a couple of stalls still available, so message me today if you are interested in joining. I will also have space for new lesson students - if you are interested in dressage, love to learn, and want to be part of a community that supports wellness and personal growth, this is the place for you!

I can’t wait to hear from you. 🐴🧘🤝

Super pleased with Monty’s efforts at the Spring Dressage Schooling Show on Saturday! This was our first time in the ring together, and it’s been a while since either of us has been in front of a judge. Despite some spookiness in our first test (Training Level Test 3), we still came away with a 3rd out of 7 competitors and a 60.20%. Our second test (First Level Test 1) went much more smoothly, and I was delighted to find out we placed 1st out of 5 competitors with a 65.59% despite some bobbles! 🥳🎉

It felt so good to get back in the show ring again! Special thanks to for a wonderful show at their beautiful facilities.
I couldn’t have done it without Kathryn Bieler - thanks for letting me showcase your special guy, for taking us to and from the show despite the dismal weather 🌧️ and for being my “show mom” for the day. I’m already looking forward to the next one!

It’s going to be a relaxing evening filled with community and self-care. No camera or microphone needed, just a mat, space to spread out, and an open mindset. Wear your pajamas if you want!

Attendees of the first class commented:
- “Instructor was clear and gave relaxed tips about each stretch.”
- “Easy going energy.”
- “Calm voice and direction during the session.”
- “Instructions were thoughtful and well-directed.”

Can’t wait to see you there! 🐴🧘🤝

It’s always about so much more than just horses. 🐴 🧘🤝

A lovely post written by one of my newest clients after our second lesson last week.

I asked Michelle if I could share this because she did such a wonderful job capturing one of the many reasons I love what I do - although we do it for the horses, what we receive from our equine connections is really about so much more. Thank you Michelle and Bourbon, for trusting me to be a part of your journey!
