Tried to up the pressure on Laney this evening. Working with her reminds me of two years ago when I started actively trying to ride and haul Cruze.
He went through a phase where getting on him was like crawling on ticking time bomb. He’d often be dramatic from the moment I got on in effort to scare me to get off. He’d also act dull and lazy and drag his feet and often trip.

One of the ways I try to combat this is by driving forward in circles constantly changing directions in a controlled manner. And also working on transitions.

I also turned her into the fence a few times one of which she bumped the fence which rattled the gate and scared the snot out of her. But I was able to stop her and I sat quiet and she settle slightly I walked and turned her a couple times then drove her back up into a trot and sent here by and around the fence and gate that started her.

Suck at taking pictures working horses as of late, so picture of Reba eating for tax.

Alene came over and lunged bourbon all over the arena as I rode Reba this evening she settled in quicker than she did last week with two ponies and horse with her. She needs lots of practice doing that and hauling to new places.

Post ride picture. I had her drag some ropes around because Saturday when my bridle slipped off the horn and touched her while being lunged she acted like it was a really big deal despite having ropes flopping all over her previously and it not being a problem.

She again today was unfazed. Was able to put in a ride without feeling like I was sitting on a ticking time bomb. She was a little dull but we went through the motions. She continues to be quite clumsy as well and I’m not sure if it’s cause she’s lazy, still out of shape or something else. I keep pushing her to try a little harder and intentional with her foot placement.

Also had a hunger games style cannon go off while we were riding. Thank you firework season
