Hey… it’s me—Beau. 🐾✨

I’m a shih tzu–poodle mix, and today was my very first visit to Banister Bark Boutique.

And I’ll be honest…

I wasn’t totally sure what to expect.

New place. New sounds. New smells. Lots of grooming tools I’d never seen before. I was trying to act cool about it, but inside I was like, "…what is happening?”

But then I saw Ellie.

My housemate.

She was already there, and she looked so calm. Like she knew exactly what was going on. That helped more than I can explain.

She went first, and I watched everything.

Bath? She was fine.
Dryer? No problem.
Haircut? She just… stood there like it was nothing.

And every so often, she’d look at me like, “You’re good. It’s okay.”

So I thought… okay. If Ellie can do it, I can try.

When it was my turn, I still felt a little nervous, but I stayed close to what I’d seen her do. I stood when I was supposed to stand. I stayed still when Teresa needed me to. And when I got a little unsure, I just took a breath and kept going.

It actually wasn’t scary.

It was… kind of okay.

Ellie sat nearby the whole time, watching me just like I watched her. I could tell she was proud of me, and that made me feel better than anything else.

By the time I was done, I felt clean, lighter, and a little surprised at myself.

I did it.

My very first groom.

And I didn’t even mess it up.

When Ellie and I left together, we both looked good, and I think we both felt a little more confident than when we came in.

I guess that’s what you do when you’ve got a good housemate—you show each other the way.

I think I’ll be okay with this grooming thing.

Next time might even be easier.

Hi everyone!! It’s me—Ellie! 🐾✨

Your favorite black and white shih tzu… and guess what???

I just had my second visit to Banister Bark Boutique!!!

But this time… I brought someone with me.

My housemate—Beau!!!

It was his turn to see what all the fuss is about, so of course, I went first to show him how it’s done.

No pressure or anything… 😌

I hopped right up on the table like, “Watch this, Beau. I’ve got this.” I remembered everything from my first visit, so I felt a lot more confident this time.

Bath? Easy.
Dryer? No big deal.
Haircut? I stood like a pro.

I wanted to make sure Beau could see that everything is safe, gentle, and honestly… kind of nice!

Every now and then, I’d glance over at him like, “See? Told you.”

Teresa took her time making me look just right, and I felt so proud of myself for being such a good girl. Second visit and already setting a great example!

By the time I was all finished—clean, fluffy, and looking adorable—it was Beau’s turn.

I went and sat on the floor and watched him, just like he watched me.

It’s only fair.

And honestly?

I think having me there helped him feel better.

We did it together.

And that made it even more special.

I can’t wait for our next visit… because now Beau knows exactly what to expect.

And I’ll be right there with him again.

Hey there! It’s me—Buddy. 🐾✨

I’m a ten-year-old chorkie (that’s chihuahua + yorkie, for those keeping track), and I’m one of those guys who doesn’t need to come in all the time.

I like to keep things… low maintenance.

So I visit Banister Bark Boutique every so often—when it’s time to tidy things up and remind everyone how handsome I am.

This visit was a lot like my first one. Teresa clipped my body down to a nice, easy ¼ inch all over, which feels great and keeps everything simple.

But this time?

We made a very important decision about my face.

Last time, it was clipped smooth… neat, clean, very proper.

But this time, my mom and I looked at each other and said…

“Let’s keep the scruff.”

And I’m glad we did.

Teresa shaped my face to have more of that yorkie-style look—a little textured, a little rugged, and just the right amount of adorable.

I feel like it suits me.

Distinguished… but still a little playful.

I was a very good boy for the whole thing, too. Teresa even said I was an easy dog to groom, which I think is a pretty nice compliment.

I just stand there, let her do her thing, and enjoy the process. No fuss, no drama.

That’s my style.

By the time I was done, I felt clean, comfortable, and looking just the way I like—short and simple, with a perfectly scruffy face.

I’ll be back again sometime this summer for another visit.

No rush.

I’ll just show up when it’s time to look this good again.

Hi… it’s me—Paisley. 🐾✨

I’m the five-and-a-half-year-old, blue merle mini aussiedoodle… and I just had my second visit to Banister Bark Boutique.

And… I remembered.

Last time, everything was new, and I was a little shy. The sounds, the table, the whole experience—I wasn’t quite sure what to think.

But this time?

I walked in and thought… “Oh. I know this place.”

That helped.

A lot.

It was still nice and quiet (which I really love), and Teresa was just as patient and gentle as I remembered. That made it much easier for me to relax.

I didn’t feel nearly as unsure this time. I stood a little more confidently, trusted a little more quickly, and just… settled in.

I got my usual look—clipped and trimmed to about ⅓ inch all over, with my face neatly scissor shaped. It’s a nice, tidy style that still leaves me feeling soft and fluffy.

And I have to say…

I think it suits me.

I was a good girl, too. Maybe not perfect-perfect… but definitely braver, calmer, and more comfortable than my first visit.

That feels like a big win.

By the time I was all finished, I felt clean, neat, and quietly proud of myself.

And the best part?

I’m already scheduled to come back again.

And next time… I think I’ll be even more confident.

One visit at a time… I’m getting there.

Hi there!!! It’s me—Sadie! 🐾✨

I’m a three-year-old, cream-colored pug… and I just had my very first visit to Banister Bark Boutique!!!

And let me tell you…

I NAILED it.

Now, I came in for the full spa experience—a deshedding bath, nail trim, ear cleaning, and… well… the other thing.

But first—can we talk about my nails?

Because apparently, pugs have a reputation.

Something about being dramatic?

Excuse me.

Not me.

I was an absolute angel. I stood nicely, didn’t fuss, didn’t wiggle, didn’t make a scene. Teresa clipped my nails like it was no big deal… because for me?

It wasn’t.

I think I surprised everyone a little.

Then came my bath—warm, bubbly, and sooo satisfying. All that loose fur? Gone. I felt lighter, cleaner, and honestly… kind of fabulous.

My ears were cleaned, everything was going smoothly… and then came the part we had already talked about.

You see, when my mom dropped me off, Teresa had a very important conversation with her. She explained that sometimes, with a girl of my… ahem… curvy figure, it can be a little tricky to express a**l glands successfully.

That’s what you call good communication.

Setting expectations.

Being prepared.

And sure enough… it turned out that Teresa wasn’t able to complete that part this time.

But that’s okay!

Because everything else? Went perfectly.

And honestly… I felt amazing.

My coat was soft, I smelled wonderful, and I left feeling like a brand new pug.

My mom was really happy, too—and we’re already scheduled to come back again next month!

I’d say my first visit was a pretty big success.

No drama.
All charm.
