Adoptable dog Rema is here to share some tips to keep your pets safe and healthy while the sky is smoky and smelly!

⚠ Limit time outside. Keep your pets inside as much as possible, and keep outdoor bathroom breaks short (under 10 minutes). You may want to wipe your dog off with a wet cloth when they come back inside to remove any particles from their fur.

⚠ Have a hike scheduled today? Cancel it! Going for a run? Not today! It's best for you and your dog to spend some quality time indoors until the air quality improves. Need ideas to keep them entertained? Search online for enrichment activities like puzzle feeders, peanut butter Kongs, and more!

⚠ Keep your doors and windows closed. You don't want that smoky air to come in your home!

⚠ Some animals are more at risk in smoky air. This includes older animals, younger animals, short-muzzled animals (pugs, bulldogs, Persian cats, etc), and animals with heart and/or lung conditions.

⚠ Monitor your pets for symptoms such as coughing, gagging, open-mouthed breathing, lack of appetite, and fatigue. Seek veterinary treatment if needed.
