This weekend, we went to a dog show — and in my opinion, there’s no better place for a puppy to learn. They get handled by all sorts of people, learn to chill in a crate, walk through a sea of dogs, and take in all the clapping, cheering, and barking. If the opportunity comes, they can even practice in the ring — walking on a leash, standing on a table, and showing off those little teeth.
Since UKC non-licensed classes don’t require registration, I thought it would be fun to enter him. His official paper name is Thistle Hill & Wodans Brine & Bark, but here’s where the story gets funny. When I registered him, I must have been sleepy (and distracted by a movie), because somehow I wrote down his call name as Harry.
When I went to pick up his number, the show secretary handed it to me and said, “Here’s Harry’s number.” I replied, “Who’s Harry? I’d never call a dog Harry!” But sure enough, the paperwork said it. And for the next three days, everyone at the show called him Harry. After hearing it hundreds of times… well, it stuck. And that’s how this puppy officially became Harry. 😅
Harry did wonderfully in the non-licensed puppy class, winning it three times against three other puppies. Not bad for a nameless pup turned Harry! 🏆🐾
Here are some photos of Harry enjoying his big weekend: He is still looking for his perfect home PM us for more details
