I wanted to share with everyone the procedure for getting your grab and go bouquets from our community partners like Crème de la Crumb!

When you walk in and select your bouquets you will always check out through an honor system process with our farm. Next to the flowers you will find a cash box for any cash you might be paying with (we can’t make change so please have exact tender) or if you would like to pay by card/apple pay/paypal you scan the QR code and it directs you to our website. You add the bouquet you are selecting (right now we are only offering petite posey), the quantity, and check out like you would any online purchase. That’s It!

We do transactions through our website to keep up with stock as well as demand in one place. I am a one women show who does all the field work, growing, seeding, planting, social media, and accounting. Add in being a full time caregiver to 2 special needs kiddos I have to keep things as simplified as possible to keep this ship afloat.

Flowers brought me so much joy at a time I was grieving a life I imagined I would have with my children after their diagosis. That joy is why I do what I do and try to share with this amazing community. That relays on yall being amazing people as following our honor system.

Unfortunately, In the last couple of weeks we have had several people take bouquets without payment. My hope is that these were honest mistakes/misundertandings, but I know that sometimes, it’s not. This is just a reminder that there is a person and a small farm behind these flowers.

So much beauty in such a short time. The thing I love most about growing, selling, and sharing flowers is that they are going to fade and die. That’s probably a pretty weird thing to say right? The reason I love that about them is that it causes me to remember that they might not be here tomorrow. They make me stop and sit in a moment and just exist. There are no expectations. I can savor the joy of their beauty, of their scent, of being in the garden with the birdsong. Over the years I have learned the rhythm of the garden and every year I am reminded how fast time moves and the seasonality of life. It will be another year before I’ll have ranunculus or daffodils, or tulips, or peonies again. But right now I get to look forward to the zinnias, and dahlias, and sunflowers. I hope that you can slow down a little this week and seek out the beauty around you. Find a little moment of joy in you day to savor, because it’s fleeting.

Images:
1) a beautiful wedding bucket for a client
2) saw this mourning cloak beauty while harvesting over the weekend
3) I wish everyone could smell the amazingness of these sweet peas
4) Deep into larkspur season right now. I and bundling and drying a lot for this fall!
5) My rudbeckia is currently home to painted lady caterpillars and I adore that.
6) I love getting to do the bud vases at every week
7) I’ve been making sure to make a bouquet for myself every week as a non negotiable.
8) once again I’ve been swooning over the sweet peas
9) finally had some success with breadseed poppies and I can’t wait to use their pods on wreaths this year
10) these petite bouquets have been so fun and ya’ll seem to love them too!
11) the fall sown snaps are slowly on their way out. I’m hoping that my spring successions start popping up soon because I’ll miss these beauties.

Better late than never! It’s small business Saturday and I know so many people are feeling tighter wallets. Shopping small this holiday season has so many huge impacts! More money stays in our local economies and your dollars do so much good. Even if you don’t have a ton of extra this year, here are a few ways to support your small businesses even if you’re on a budget!

Shout out to some of my favorite local businesses! I love how many amazing women owned businesses I’ve had the honor of working with and supporting this past year!!!

November Land and Pond Management Calendar

Plant Native Prairie Seeds: Restored prairie or wildflower gardens benefit many animals including pollinators like monarchs.

Collect Deer Data: For harvested deer, record weight and determine age using lower jaw. Note deer sightings also. Data helps determine if management goals are being met.

Collect Quail Harvest Data: Keep harvested quail wings for aging. Contact a local wildlife biologist to learn more.

Manipulate Fallow Fields Dove: If standing grain remains, it can now be mowed to attract dove though the end of the year.

Winterize Equipment: Drain water from tanks, hoses, pumps and nozzles on fire and herbicide equipment.

Prepare Firebreaks: Maintain firebreaks now so they are ready when the timing is right for a burn.
