📢 NALF Summer Board Meeting Highlights & Announcements

1️⃣ DNA Testing Savings
Starting September 1, 2025, DNA testing costs will be dramatically reduced for members.

2️⃣ Registration Fee Adjustment
Due to rising operating costs and vendor contracts, the NALF Board voted unanimously to approve a small inflationary increase in registration fees to maintain normal business operations.

3️⃣ FREE 701X Cattle Management Software
Thanks to 701X Autonomous Rancher, owner/operator of NALF’s DigitalBeef registry system, members will now receive 701X cattle management software FREE—fully integrated with DigitalBeef!

4️⃣ EPD & Index Advancements
The IGS Mature cow-weight EPD completion will enable the NALF to build the Maternal index and All-Purpose index per the NALF board action and direction from four years ago. As you are already aware, NALF updated its Terminal Profit index utilizing iGENDEC software. It will also be utilized for production of the Maternal Index and All-purpose index to round out the index packages for breeders who wish to utilize them on their mating decisions moving into the future.

Carl G. Crabtree, an Idaho rancher, devoted family man and public servant, passed away peacefully May 6, 2025 with his family at his side, following a battle with brain cancer. He lived with love, purpose and grit, leaving the world better than he found it. Crabtree will be missed on the ranch, in the halls of the Capitol and wherever integrity matters.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, May 17 (his 73rd birthday) at 2:00 PM at St. Peter and Paul School, located at 330 S B St, Grangeville, ID. Following the service, a reception will be held at the Grangeville Senior Citizen Center, located at 108 Grangeville Truck Rte, Grangeville, ID. This will be a time for family, friends and colleagues to share eulogies, tributes, personal stories and reflections on Carl's life. All are welcome to join in remembering him.

James “Jim” Edgar Fawley, age 82, a lifelong Lynchburg, Ohio resident, passed away peacefully on May 29, 2025. He was the kind of person who could turn a simple conversation into an unforgettable memory. His life revolved around family, cattle and farming—a passion that was both his livelihood and his joy.

The visitation will be held on Friday, June 13, 2025, from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Good News Gathering, 6250 US 62, Hillsboro, Ohio 45133. Funeral services will take place on Saturday, June 14, 2025, at 11:00 AM also at Good News Gathering. The burial will follow at Lynchburg Masonic Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Jim’s name to the Ohio Limousin Junior Association by cash or check.
