Happy Tails Update: Diego 🐾❤️

We have the best kind of update to share today: Diego is home.

When Diego was waiting for his family, he was known around Straydog for being one of the sweetest boys you could ever meet. His tail was always wagging, his smile could melt your heart, and he was never shy about giving out kisses.

This fun-loving, handsome boy had a way of making everyone around him feel special. Whether he was playing tug-of-war, chasing after a ball, or settling in for couch potato time, Diego was always happiest when he was near people who loved him.

And now, he has that.

Diego’s adopter recently shared photos of him, and it is clear this sweet boy is right where he belongs. Seeing him safe, loved, and enjoying life in his new home is exactly why we do what we do.

Happy tails, Diego. We are so happy for you and your forever family. ❤️

Dog of the Week: Double Feature 🐾

Meet Rambo and Eddie, two very good boys who are ready for their next chapter.

Rambo came to Straydog after a Good Samaritan found him and reached out for help. Thankfully, there was room for Rambo and his kennel mate, and he has been safe and cared for ever since. He had an eye issue when he first arrived, but after treatment from the vet, Rambo is now a healthy, happy big boy.

Rambo loves kids, gets along well with other dogs, and has the best time playing with his kennel mate and caregivers when he heads to the park. He is sweet, playful, and ready to meet a family who will love him for the big lovable guy he is.

Eddie was born at Straydog right after Christmas in 2022. He was adopted as a puppy, but sadly recently returned when his owner no longer had time for him and he was not getting the care he deserved.

Even after all of that, Eddie is still full of love. He gets along with other dogs, loves children and adults, and is the perfect size at 55 pounds. He is sweet, affectionate, and very happy to be back somewhere he is safe and loved, but what Eddie really wants is a forever home where he will be cherished.

Two boys. Two stories. So much love to give. ❤️

Our hearts are full today. ❤️

This afternoon we celebrated the volunteers who are the backbone of Straydog. We enjoyed bingo, beer, great company, and plenty of laughs along the way.

To every volunteer who gives their time, love, and energy to the animals in our care, thank you. Straydog simply wouldn’t be possible without you. 🐾

We may be Straydog, but word has clearly gotten out that we love all animals. ❤️

Recently, we helped rescue an abandoned kitten and now this little opossum has joined the Straydog rescue stories. 😳

When Juana found him, they both screamed. Juana screamed because she found an opossum. The opossum screamed because he found Juana. 😂

Thankfully, everyone recovered, and this sweet little surprise is safe and getting the care he needs.

Never a dull moment at Straydog!

Dog of the Week: Patches 🐾

Patches has come a long way from where her story began.

She and her seven siblings were found on a country road after being dumped and left behind. Thankfully, a kind Good Samaritan stepped in to feed them, shelter them, and help get them to safety. Straydog was able to take the whole little crew in, and now Patches is growing into the sweetest young dog.

Just over a year old, Patches is a beautiful Catahoula mix with the prettiest spotted coat and an even sweeter personality. She is gentle, loving, and always happy to spend time with her toys.

Patches is ready for a family who will see what we see: a soft-hearted girl with so much love to give.

Hi. I’m Chanel. 🤎

I may be small-ish, chocolate brown, and impossibly cute, but my story started in a really hard place. I was born in a hoarding situation and rescued by Straydog when I was only one day old.

One. Day. Old.

I don’t remember much about that beginning, but I do know this: I have been loved, cared for, and given the chance to grow into the sweet girl I am today.

I’m about 25 pounds now, and no one is totally sure what I’m mixed with. The humans keep guessing, but honestly, I think “adorable” is the only breed that really matters.

My favorite things include:
lap time
kisses
being held like the precious little baby I clearly am
soaking up every bit of attention I can get

I’m ready for someone to come meet me, fall in love with me, and maybe let me be their professional snuggle assistant.

This Mother’s Day, one brave momma and her six tiny puppies are safe, cared for, and surrounded by love.

After this sweet stray gave birth on a Good Samaritan’s porch, Straydog was able to step in and help. Today, she has a full tummy, a safe place to rest, and her babies curled up close.

This is what your support makes possible. Thank you for helping us say yes when dogs have nowhere else to turn.
