Can someone explain to us how this gorgeous Redbone Coonhound is still here?

Seriously. People search high and low for this breed, and somehow this beautiful 5-year-old southern belle has been residing at the shelter for a month and a half!

Julia is heartworm negative, housebroken, knows how to sit, and has perfected the kind of head tilt that could convince just about anyone to hand over an extra treat.

Speaking of treats...true to her hound roots, her nose is always hard at work. Sometimes she's so busy sniffing the world that she doesn't immediately locate the treat you're holding right in front of her. It's equal parts hilarious and adorable, and somehow it just makes her even more charming.

We've decided the only reason she's still here is because we haven't properly introduced her.

Well...HERE SHE IS in all of her hound dog glory.

Now all she needs is someone who's been searching for a loyal, lovable hound to realize she's been waiting here all along.

🐾❣️URGENT FOSTER NEEDED ❣️🐾

Today, our Urgent Care team performed an emergency C-section on this beautiful husky mama, safely delivering 9 newborn puppies into the world.

Mom and babies are stable, but they need a quiet, loving place to recover. Caring for nine newborns is a big job, but luckily mom will be in to assist! We’re urgently searching for a foster home willing to help this sweet family through these critical first weeks.

Bottle-feeding experience is preferred, but don’t let that stop you from reaching out. Our team is happy to teach you everything you need to know, and HSSM will provide all veterinary care, formula, bottles, supplies, ongoing support, and will handle their future adoptions. You won’t be doing this alone.

If you’ve ever considered fostering, this is your chance to make an incredible difference. Giving this family a safe place to heal and grow could truly save lives.

Our celebrations ended on the sweetest note where a few of our shelter pups got to crash a “hooman” birthday party where all the kids shared yummy pup cups with them!🍦🥳

We’re also thrilled to announce that 14 of our shelter pets received the greatest birthday gift of all today…a loving forever home! 🏡 🎉

Be sure to stop by the shelter next week Tuesday-Friday between 10am-5pm and Saturday 10am-4pm if you weren’t able to make it in this week.🐾

Today we’re celebrating the “official birthday” for all dogs whose actual birthdays are unknown, and our shelter pups are partying with some delicious pup cups! 🥳🍦

While they’re enjoying a sweet treat today, there’s one birthday wish they all have in common… A forever home.

Come celebrate with us by stopping by the shelter today until 4pm to wish our birthday pups a happy DOGust! Who knows? You might just meet your new best friend and give them the greatest gift they could ever receive.🏡

Some dogs shake your hand, but our guy, Coop, gives hugs.

And if you're a fan of big dogs, you already know there's nothing quite like leaning down for a quick hello and getting wrapped up in a giant, well-intentioned bear hug from your new best friend.

Coop is a 3-year-old Shepherd mix who came to us at the end of April in rough shape. He was painfully underweight when he arrived, but with lots of good meals and even more love, he's gained back a healthy amount of weight. He's still working on filling out, though, so he'll gladly accept any extra treats prescribed by his future family. (Doctor's orders...according to Coop.)

This big sweetheart has never met a stranger. He's friendly with everyone, knows his basic commands, has an absolutely contagious smile, and we think he's housebroken too. If your family has room for a larger dog, Coop has enough love to fill every corner of your home.

Coop is heartworm positive, but thanks to generous donations from our community, his heartworm treatment has been FULLY SPOSORED at our HSSM's Wellness Clinic!

It's time someone finally scoops Coop up! Stop by the shelter tomorrow between 10am-5pm to meet him for yourself.

Happy ! It's time to meet your new best friend, Smith!

This handsome 3-year-old Great Pyrenees is waiting patiently for his forever family after coming to us as a stray from Saucier just a few weeks ago.

He is an absolute sweetheart who loves meeting new people and is always happy to make a new friend. With his gentle personality and lovable nature, we're sure we can find him a loving home.
