www.simplykindfrenchies.com An interesting new study involving 2,101 French Bulldogs found an association between spaying or neutering before 12 months of age and higher odds of intervertebral disc herniation, or IVDH.

I have questioned early sterilization for years, which is why I generally encourage families to discuss waiting until around one year or older, or considering hormone preserving options such as vasectomy or o***y sparing spay when appropriate.

This research shows an association, not proof of cause. It also does not mean dogs altered earlier will develop IVDD or that owners made the wrong decision. It simply adds to the conversation about making sterilization decisions individually with your veterinarian.

We’re on a good slow climb this round, no warp speed heats! Roux tested at 1.9 today and Luma Tested at 4 so we’ll be looking at insemination for the weekend!
