March 1-2 - Paul Edward
Day One – Saturday: Play as a Primary Reinforcer
Focus: Utilizing play to enhance training outcomes, covering motivation, arousal, drive, focus amidst distractions, and obedience troubleshooting.

Ideal for: Competition dogs, working dogs, and active companions.
Spots: 10 working spots ($200 each) (only a few available)
unlimited audit spots ($125 each)

Day Two – Sunday: Reactivity & Aggression Diagnostics and Solutions
Focus: In-depth analysis of reactivity and aggression in dogs, discussing neuroscience, ethology, and associative learning.
Includes: Lectures and live demonstrations.
Cost: $130 per participant.

March 11-13 - Decoy Workshop w/ Kyle McCraith
NA Police Work Dog Association Master Trainer Kyle McCraith. The workshop will cover material from Dr. Stephen “Doc” Mackenzie and include hands-on training with protection dogs.
Ideal for: Law enforcement, professional dog handlers and trainers looking to advance their skills in working with protection dogs.

April 5 - Rally and Heeling w/ Jen Humphrey
Join TWC certified trainer Jen Humphrey for a dynamic session on Rally and Heeling. Jen has over a decade of competition experience and will share insights from her success, including her recent first place at the AKC Rally National Championship with her dog Rhubarb.
Ideal for: Dog owners interested in entering the world of AKC Rally and Obedience or those looking to enhance their skills

Meet Becky!!
 
Becky has been working with her dog Rex with us for years and has now joined the Adventure Tails team officially!
 
I asked Becky to introduce herself:
 
“I’ve been passionate about dogs my entire life. I was always the go-to dog walker or sitter for friends and family. In 2013, I adopted Brady, my American Staffordshire Terrier. In 2018, I began fostering, helping puppies and dogs get a strong start as they transition to their forever homes.
 
Currently, I foster for Out of the Pits Rescue. In 2021, Rex became my “foster fail,” and his adoption marked the beginning of my incredible journey with Adventure Tails. Rex shares my love for hiking in the woods, playing, exploring and learning new activities like nosework.”
 
Personally, I have loved watching Becky’s commitment to work with her personal and foster dogs. She has impressed me by consistently showing up with curiosity about her dogs rather than expectation - as well as openness and courage when things have been challenging. She has excellent handling skills and the heart of a true dogwoman!

Happy New Year!

2024 was a wild year of growth - moving into our new facility, bringing baby Sal home, the addition of group classes, new hiking routes, day training and team members!

I want to thank our clients - past and present - for your endless support, trust and patience in the last year. I never intended for this business to be anything more than myself running some dogs in the woods. It was realizing there were so many of you - devoted to your dogs and seeking guidance and opportunities to better understand and cater to their needs - who provided me with the motivation to build more.

I can’t wait to see what we all get up to with our dogs in 2025!

Starting January 14th we will be resuming our day camp on Tuesdays and Thursdays !

Day Camp runs from 8am-3pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays at our facility in Voorheesville. Dogs receive enrichment and exercise, social opportunities, field trips and several training sessions a day.

Each program is catered to the individual dog and your goals! Full programs run 6 weeks and include 2 private lessons. We also offer drop-in days to clients currently or previously enrolled in private lesson, day train or board and train programs!

Full program: $1,080 (sales tax included)
Drop in days: $75 (sales tax included)

We are so excited to announce our first workshop with our talented friend and colleague, Mallory Galatzer-Levy!

Mallory is a TWC Certified trainer who has been training dogs for 13 years. She got her start in service dogs, training her own dog as a demonstration service dog. That same dog, Jozsi the Vizsla, earned Championship titles in the US and Canada including Master Hunter. She completed the Super Sniffer Detection Dog program and is currently enrolled in an intensive Detection Dog program with OnTargetK9. She’s used this knowledge to develop the scent program at The Right Paw in Massachusetts!

This workshop will get teams started on the basics of scent games while also diving into theory and practice to help handlers continue their scent training all winter!

WHEN: Dec 28, 2024 - 9AM to 6PM
WHERE: 13 Drywall Lane Voorheesville NY 12186
COST: $175/team - light refreshments and your own scent tin to take home are included

Dogs must be able to be contained in their vehicles during lecture and between turns, we will be open to reschedule if temperatures are below freezing.

We will cover tricks for your AKC Trick Dog Novice and Intermediate titles with a maximum of 5 dogs in class!

This is an excellent way to add some fun to your training, practice your timing, handling skills and teamwork in a low-pressure curriculum!

‼️ANNOUNCEMENT‼️

We are expanding our signature service, off leash group hikes!! This means we are taking applications for new dogs!!!

WHAT IT IS: In group hikes your dog gets to experience true enrichment - exploring the woods, using their nose, moving freely alongside their own kind, navigating obstacles, satisfying physical activity, splashing in the water and rolling in the grass. All of the sensory experiences they crave while also practicing strong recall, social skills and trail manners!!

HOW IT WORKS: We pick your dog up at home, drive them to the woods with their friends, run them for 45-60 minutes, then drop them off back at home. Services occur between 9-5 Monday-Friday

We are looking to add to our current routes in Guilderland/Altamont and establish new routes in Bethlehem, Voorheesville, and/or Albany (Roessleville area) based on demand! Tell your neighbors!

DOGS must be:
-Social
-Good in the car
-Motivated by food, play, or to stick with a group
