Paws for Thought Farm - Canine Event Center Paws for Thought Farm will provide a facility that is comfortable, well equipped and safe for client Dog agility is the fun sport for you and your dog.

The Canine Event Center will initially focus on providing a facility for dog agility. The team of dog and handler negotiate a course of obstacles. Actually, the dog negotiates the obstacles with the handler providing direction through the course. The handler provides direction through body motion, speed, hand and voice signals. In the long-term, The Canine Event Center will focus on other areas, s

uch as Obedience, Rally, Tracking and possibly Guide Dog Training. In the future, Paws for Thought Farm will look to host agility competitions sanctioned by, but not limited to, the American Kennel Club (AKC), the United States Dog Agility Association (USDAA), the Australian Shepard Club of America (ASCA), the North American Dog Agility Council (NADAC) and Canine Performance Events (CPE). We are also planning to be able to offer our facility to Clubs to hold their AKC Obedience and Rally Trials.

Never a dull moment at PfTF. Last night we had a few "off course" cows visit PfTF. They belong to the farmer down the road and broke out of his field and walked through the trails in our woods and popped out at PfTF. The cows are now back safe and sound in their field and the fence is repaired.

Good afternoon

Sue and I have gone back and forth on whether or not we should cancel the upcoming Rebecca Thrift Seminars on August 8 & 9, 2025. Number are very light due to other activites in the area. We have decided to go ahead and hold the Seminars. The Puppies class will be opened up to young dogs.

For those of you coming to the Ithaca Dog Training Club CPE Agility Trial this weekend at Paws for Thought Farm, please remember to bring outdoor footwear for walking your dogs and indoor shoes to wear when on the turf. This week has been very challenging with the parking lot and the paths in the field. We are still hoping for warm weather tomorrow to do a bit more melting.

After a recent Agility Trial at PfTF there was a significant increase in confirmed COVID cases, Sue being one of the people who came down with COVID. Sue and I have been discussing our PfTF Agiltiy Trial and feel the the most prudent approach to take in relation to health and safety is to cancel our August 17 & 18, 2024 CPE Agility Trial. All checks will be shredded. For those of you who used free run vouchers and worker bucks as part of payment, I will be sending an email to you with credit to be used on a future PfTF CPE Agility Trial.

Sorry for the inconvenience; however, it is best to be safe rather than sorry.

Day 4 of the Central New York Shetland Sheepdog Club (CNYSSC) 4-day AKC Agility Trial is underway. Over the 4 days, we had sunshine, clouds, thunder and a bit of rain, heavy at some times, but most of all everyone had a great time. There were approximately 1400 runs in total. Thank you CNYSSC for putting on such a great event at PfTF and we will see you next year.
