Smitty is a three year old Pit Bull with three legs, otherwise known as a tripod. Smitty had his left front leg amputated when he was a puppy due to injuries he had when found as a stray. Massage is important for tripod dogs-when a dog loses a limb, their balance shifts on to the remaining legs. This increases stress and may lead to injury or pain in the remaining legs.

Scout was all smiles after her first massage. In December she had surgery to repair a torn ACL. To quote my mentor, Jonathan Rudinger at PetMassage “When one stifle is repaired surgically, the opposing knee is often susceptible to injury.” We can strengthen both the repaired and opposing knee through massage.

Baron is a 9 year old Sheltie who is getting massages every other week for arthritis in his hips and weakness in his hind legs. Massage is a great passive exercise for dogs who are not that active anymore. It keeps the joints lubricated and helps with inflammation and circulation. Baron loves his massages! ❤️🐾❤️
