🚑 Temperatures are deadly, but this dog was still dumped with with a box, a food bowl, and a few belonging in the area of Harper and Cadieux on Detroit’s east side.

The dog is safe with us at Detroit Dog Rescue, but this is a cry, a warning, a plea: do not dump your dogs -it’s simply too cold in Detroit for them to have any chance of surviving this week.

If you can, please help us by donating at the link in the comments. Thank you.

💡 Creating solutions at DDR! Vito found Debo on the street on the way to work yesterday. Every shelter is beyond capacity due to the cold weather. Vito was eager to foster Debo, and possibly adopt him after his stray hold, but they needed a vet so Debo could receive care right away. Our veterinarian provided Debo with an intial exam and care to keep Debo healthy, in a foster home, and out of a shelter!

Providing medical care, foster programs, adoption programs, and alternatives to euthanasia for space are just a few programs we provide every day.

Every shelter is telling residents they are full unless a dog is pregnant or critically injured. It seems most of the time these are the stories that bring in donation dollars on social media. However, intervening and creating positive outcomes BEFORE animals become critically injured is truly the most humane option when It comes to rescue. Too many dogs In need are being turned away, because their story can’t be sensationalized. It’s sad and unethical.

Our new veterinary program is in need of supplies! Medications, critical antibiotics, Heartworm preventative and treatment are just a few things we constantly need.

Please help by donating today, because our match from the Alex Burnstein Memorial Fund is still happening for donations up to $5,000!

If you can, please make an end of the year, tax-deductible donation at DetroitDogRescue.com

A big bark and thank you to Dr. Sewick for joining our team to help create more positive outcomes for .
