It always upsetting to think of what some of these kitties have experienced, neglect or injury, or maybe not experienced like love and care. It's amazing that these same kitties learn to trust humans, some slower that others, but trust us again or maybe for the first time.
Many kittens develop eye infections and left untreated require an eye or even both eyes removed. It's sad to think that this could have been prevented.
Meet Gaia, a wonderfully shy yet playful girl looking for her forever home.
Gaia’s life didn’t begin with the love, safety, and protection she deserved, and those early hardships left their mark. Even so, she has proven incredibly resilient. With steady progress in foster care, she is slowly learning that people can be kind.
Despite her difficult start, Gaia radiates pure joy when she plays! Her favorite games include string toys, laser pointers, feather wands, and playful chase‑and‑wrestle sessions with a feline friend. After playtime, she enjoys lounging in a window perch or cat tree napping or gazing out the window.
Gaia isn’t fully comfortable being touched by humans yet; however, she will happily lay beside you. She startles easily when reached for and will retreat to a safe distance. She needs a special person who is patient and will let her set the pace as she learns to trust and grow in confidence.
Gaia finds tremendous comfort in the presence of other cats. She would do best in a calm home with another friendly cat — especially if it were her lifelong companion, Gwendolyn. These two girls were rescued together and have been side by side since the very beginning. She will likely do well with a new feline friend, but will need slow, thoughtful introductions to set her up for success.
