How much weight can a horse carry?

In my experience, a horse can carry an infinite amount.

They can carry the weight of broken hearts, broken homes, and broken bodies. Countless tears sometimes comb their tangled manes. Moments when parents and friends cannot be there to help and hold a person, horses embrace and empower. They carry physical, mental, and emotional handicaps. They carry hopes and dreams; and they will carry the stress from your day when you can't carry it anymore.

They carry graduations, they carry new careers, they carry moves away from everything familiar, they carry marriages, they carry divorces, they carry funerals, they carry babies before they are born, and sometimes they carry the mothers who cannot carry their own baby. They carry mistakes, they carry joy, they carry the good and they carry the bad. They carry drugs and addictions, but they also carry the celebrations.

They will carry you to success when all you have felt is failure. They will carry you, never knowing the weight of your burdens and triumphs.

If you let them, they will carry you through life, and life is hard, life is heavy, but a horse will make you feel weightless under it all.

Hi, my name is Katie! Im offering horse training and lessons in the Grifton nc area. Let me tell you a little about myself! I've always had a love for animals! I grew up around several people with horses! I looked forward to family gatherings and get togethers at my uncle's house and never missed a chance to ride his horses. Even if we weren't riding the barn is where you'd find me! My parents started me in lessons when I was young and what was suppose to be once or twice a week turned out to be my daily life on the farm!! Looking back I'm amazed at how God used horses to change my direction in life! I didn't know what I wanted to do. All I knew was that I wanted to work with animals. Like most kids, in school I faced a lot of peer pressure. Once I had my first experience with a horse, I knew what direction I wanted to go in and I found where I fit in. God used horses to give me a solid foundation in life and to help me find myself in Him! My first horse opened the door for me to meet more people and even now I'm eager to learn as much as I can about horses!

I have four horses of my own. Mossie was my first horse shes approximately 8 years old. She's a mustang and was originally adopted from the blm.

My second horse is Journey, shes approximately 14, also a mustang, originally adopted from the blm.

Lazarus is my third horse/mustang. He's approximately 3, I adopted him through a TIP trainer from the blm.

Legend's my fourth horse he's approximately 5, I got him from a rescue when he was 3. He's the only of my horses that's not a mustang, he's a quarter horse/pony.

Although he's not mine, I also have Levi! He's my mom's horse and I went with her to pick him out. He was my first experience at an actual adoption event and I've done all the work with him myself from gentling to saddling and getting him ready for his first ride! He's approximately 2yrs old and we've had him over a year!

I have volunteered helping in riding lessons and Ive taken consistant lessons myself, Ive also been to horse training/riding clinics. Ive studied Clinton anderson, Chris cox and Pat parelli's methods even tho I have my own techniques I still learned from all of them and have incorporated some of their techniques. I was also offered an apprenticeship under micheal lyons. would love to share this equestrian experience with you and build your knowledge in natural horsemanship!

Beginner horse lessons- I offer a well rounded program not just teaching you how to ride but how to care for and handle horses from the ground up using natural horsemanship techniques. You will learn how to halter, lead, groom, handle, and ride horses! I can teach Western or English beginner riding lessons. $40 an hour.

Horse training session- working with you and your horse on a specific problem that might not require a full 30 days of training or if you just need guidance and you can keep the training going in between sessions! $50 a session.

Horse training- the horse will be kept at my farm in Grifton and be worked 1-2 sessions a day for a minimum of 5 days a week. I can work with problem solving and behavioral issues as well as starting a horse under saddle from the ground up. We have stalls and pasture turnout. We provide hay and can feed grain that you supply. I encourage the owner to be as involved as possible in the horses training while they are here! Price for training is $600 a month. Must be paid at the beginning of each month.

Most of my training is done at my facility in Grifton. But for specific training needs I can travel to you for a travel fee based off of miles!

Legend is my fourth horse, I adopted him from a rescue. He's a quarter horse pony cross. When I found him I had been looking for a good size pony. Ive known for a long time I wanted to do kids lessons. Legend is perfect for kids. No matter who walks out hes gonna go to the little ones first! He's calm and gentle and very easy to handle. He came here knowing nothing, now he's great with groundwork, walk/trot/canter and is ready and willing to try anything new! Hes always ready for a trail ride and is ready to face any obsticles you put in front of him! Hes very brave! When you put a child on him he's extra careful while doing his job, yet super fun with a confident rider!

Lazarus is my third horse, he was captured from the Utah HMA. I adopted him when I was 16 through a TIP trainer. After getting my first mustang, I knew one day I wanted to adopt a young one of my own and train it myself. He is my dream horse! When I got him he knew very little, he was nervous and shy. I spent a lot of time gaining his trust and bonding with him. I started ground work and desensitizing /sensitizing him to gain his respect and build his confidence! Once I had his respect I started working with him on picking up his feet to prepare him for the farrier. His first farrier visit he did amazing! Then I decided to try learning and teaching him liberty and tricks. Now he has some tricks up his sleeve! I’ve also worked with him on obstacles and I’ve got him used to wearing a ba****ck pad to prepare him to be started under saddle. Im looking forward to putting his first rides on him!

This is Journey, she's from the Nevada HMA. I got her when she was 12, for the past two years she has been a great confidence builder for me! Anytime I got stuck she was there to build my confidence and get me going again! Shes taught me so much! I got her at a time when my confidence was lacking. Ive taken English and western lessons on her. Ive brought her to clinics and taken her on trail rides including Whippoorwill and Lumber river. Ive used her the most for giving lessons. She was previously owned by a lesson instructor and used as a lesson horse and for showing/gaming! Shes won lots of awards. Of all my horses she has the most experience and is perfect for any level of rider!
