Finding veterinarians is difficult these days. We have been actively searching for new associate veterinarians for the last year and a half, but there is a massive shortage of them available. This shortage also makes it difficult to find relief veterinarians to come and work so that Dr. Hill and Dr. Roberts can have days off. Currently we only have a relief veterinarian on most Thursdays. With the massive work load everyday, Dr. Hill and Dr. Roberts have to have a regular day off for stress relief and to avoid burnout. Neither of them have had a vacation in over 2 years so they can be here to serve you.
With that being said, we are having to make a change until we can find more relief veterinarians or a regular veterinarian. Unfortunately, this will cause inconvenience for you , our customers, but that is not our intent. We want our doctors to be fresh and at their best for you and your pets. On Wednesdays and Thursdays, when we do not have a relief veterinarian scheduled, we will only see appointments. We will not see walk-ins those days. Know that we do have appointments for well visits, and ones that are only available for sick pets on those days.
We apologize for any inconvenience this will cause you. If you know any veterinarians looking for positions or relief veterinarians with available days, send them our way. Know that we are actively seeking to find them in everyway possible so that we can start seeing walk-ins everyday of the week again. Thank you for understanding.

Summer is a time when flies, gnats, and especially mosquitoes are out aggravating us and our pets. It only takes one bite from an infected mosquito to bite your dog for him/her to start developing heartworm disease. There are different preventions that can be given to our pets each month for preventing this terrible disease. If it's hard to remember to give it each month, there is an injection called Proheart 6 or Proheart 12 that you can consider. It's given for every 6 or 12 months and depends on the pets weight. With no monthly doses to remember, there are no gaps in protection. It's very important to give your pet SOME type of prevention each month because just one missed dose of any heartworm prevention can result in heartworm disease with very expensive treatment, and sometimes it's potentially fatal. We will still have walk-ins from 8-11 and any MORNING appointments already scheduled will still be seen. We ask that you come early if you have any medicine refills, food, or preventions to pick up. We apologize for any inconveniences this may cause and plan to reopen on Thursday February 24 at 8 a.m.

Southside Animal Hospital always wants to provide the best care possible for our clients and their pets. Our opening hours will now be Monday thru Friday 8.a.m. to 6 p.m ONLY. We will no longer be open on SATURDAYS. We apologize for the inconvenience but we will be happy to provide care for your pet through the week days. We still have appointments Monday thru Friday when available and will still provide care with walk- ins 8 a.m to 11a.m. and then from 1:30p.m. to 5p.m. If you want an appointment, give us a call at 770-228-2595 during our weekly business hours and we will be happy to assist you with our next available one. Southside Animal Hospital hopes all our clients had a very Merry Christmas. As the new year quickly approaches, we want to wish everyone a very Happy New Year! We will be closed Friday December 31st and Saturday January 1st for our New Years Day holidays. We will reopen on Monday January 3rd at 8 a.m.
