We hope you all have a safe and merry Christmas.

*Reminder that chocolate, grapes, and onions can be toxic to your pups. Fried and greasy foods can cause pancreatitis. If you are sharing with your furry friend, some baked turkey and cooked sweet potato is the safest!

Positive rabies cases in MS. Please make sure your pets have current rabies vaccinations!

In April, we coordinated to send out a bat found by 2 puppies in Tippah county… the bat was positive for rabies. The dogs had to be quarantined and the family had to have post exposure immunizations. Last week, a similar situation happened in Benton county… 2 cats were playing with a bat, and the bat tested positive for rabies. This family is now undergoing pet quarantine and injections as well.

Rabies is a fatal condition for mammals, including pets and humans. The state requires 1 or 3 year rabies vaccines, which only a veterinarian can administer. Please make sure your pets are up to date on their rabies vaccine!! It’s an easy phone call to make, and an inexpensive injection.

A post we never thought we'd have to make: Farewell from Lake City Barks and Recreation.

When we opened over four years ago, we opened with a dream - create a place where dogs would be treated like family and their humans could rest easy knowing they were safe, happy, and loved. Over the years, that dream has come to life thanks to all of you - our incredible clients and your amazing pups.

We've shared so many moments we'll never forget -- from those dogs who have to run to each staff member to say bye before leaving, the ones who plop down and refuse to leave or drag their parents through the door when they arrive, the birthday and holiday celebrations, to seeing dogs progress through training. Being a safe place for those owners who struggle to trust people with their babies and being a place of comfort for dogs who were too reactive or fearful in other environments has been one of the most fulfilling parts of this journey.

After more reflection and prayer than you can imagine, we've made the incredibly difficult decision to close Lake City Barks and Recreation and sell our facility. However, we are happy to share that most of our awesome staff will still be around.

Ashton will continue grooming at Veterinary Associates in Grenada.
Hannah will continue to offer private pet sitting.
Megan will continue private training.

This decision was not made lightly, but it comes from a place of deep gratitude for all that LCBR has been -- a place full of love, learning, and connection.

To all of our clients: thank you for trusting us with your dogs, for your loyalty, and for becoming part of our family. Your support over these past several years has meant more than words can express.

We'll continue to share updates about what this transition will look like and how to stay connected with us as we move away from our facility on EJ Henry Rd. Current reservations will be honored (and spoiled, as usual). For now, please know how deeply grateful we are for every tail wag, paw print, and friendship we've made along the way.

As it says in Philippians 4:19 - no matter the upheavals of change in our lives, there's no need to fear. And Psalms 102:27 - Seasons change, but God remains unchanging.

With love and endless appreciation,

Megan & the LCBR Team

🌿 News from our groomer! 🌿

Hey everyone! I wanted to share a quick update about some upcoming changes. Over the next few weeks, I’ll be transitioning my grooming services from LCBR to Veterinary Associates here in Grenada.

For now, my schedule will be:
🐾 Mondays & Tuesdays – grooming at LCBR
📞 Call or text 662-633-2485 to book for those days

🐾 Wednesdays–Fridays – grooming at Veterinary Associates
📞 Call 662-226-0933 to book for those days

The plan is to be fully moved over to Veterinary Associates by the end of the year, but until then, you can still book at either location depending on what works best for you!

💚 What to know:
• The only thing changing is the location — I’ll still be right here in town!
• Pricing will remain the same at both locations.
• I’ll keep everyone updated as the transition continues to make sure things stay smooth and easy for you and your pets.

I’m really excited for this next step and so thankful for all of your continued love and support — it truly means the world to me. 🐾💜

— Ashton 💜💜
