Greers Ferry Veterinary Clinic is seeking to add a Veterinary Technician or Vet Assistant to our team! Experience is required! We are looking for a highly motivated team player with the ability to cross-train.

Duties include but are not limited to:
-Restraint/handling animals of various sizes and temperaments
*Must have the ability to lift 50 lbs. or more.
-Blood draws
-Running lab machines
-Performing radiographs
-Communicating with clients
-Administering medications (oral and injectable)

This little baby came in on emergency with a ham bone stuck on his lower jaw. This is a very common occurrence.

Please skip the bones!

We know dogs and cats love to chew, but bones are not a safe treat, even when they seem like a natural choice.

Cooked bones are especially dangerous. Cooking makes bones brittle, allowing them to splinter into sharp pieces that can cause serious injuries.

Bones can cause:

Broken teeth and painful mouth injuries
Choking
Cuts or punctures of the mouth, throat, stomach, or intestines
Intestinal blockages that may require surgery
Constipation or painful difficulty passing stool
Vomiting, diarrhea, or other digestive problems

This includes ham bones, turkey bones, chicken bones, steak bones, pork bones, and other cooked bones. Raw bones are not risk-free either and can still cause broken teeth, choking, intestinal obstruction, or gastrointestinal injury.

Our recommendation: skip the bones altogether. Choose a veterinarian-approved chew or dental product instead. Your pet can enjoy the treat without turning snack time into an emergency visit.
