The Basking Spot My name is Sandee, and I have a decade of hands-on experience working with numerous reptile species. I specialize in the care of cold-blooded animals.

I provide both boarding services within my home and in-home visits, exclusively for reptiles.

Sequoia is one of my boarding clients. She is a Calabar python. They are incredibly docile in nature, and have a very interesting feature that their tail mimics the shape of their head as a defense mechanism known as cephalic mimicry. When they feel threatened, they will bury their head to protect themselves and allow their tail to be a distraction to predators.

Standard disappointing discussion for Storm😆 He would eat every day if I let him. He does not have an “I’m full” button, just an “I haven’t expanded to the size of my enclosure yet” button!

Once the weather gets too cool for the larger snakes to go adventure outside, I set up explore corners in the reptile room. Even though they all have approximately sized enclosures, I like to let them have plenty of supervised roam time exploring to exercise their bodies and their minds. Storm will spend an entire hour sniffing one fake plant. There are plenty of other snakes smells on the decor for them to stimulate their senses.
