Ethan’s Exotic Pets & Aquatics will be open tomorrow, July 4th from 4–6 PM for any last-minute pet needs before the holiday celebrations! 🇺🇸🐢🦎
After that, we’ll be closed from Saturday, July 5 through Friday, July 11 while Ethan enjoys a well-deserved vacation. 🌴☀️

Did you know that today is National Catfish Day? It's the perfect time to appreciate these fascinating fish! With over 5,500 recognized species, catfish make up about 1 in every 12 or 13 vertebrate species on Earth. That means they come in all shapes and sizes—many looking quite different from the classic image of a whiskered, bottom-dwelling fish.
Take Pseudolithoxus, for example—a spiky, armored variety that stands out from the crowd. Catfish hold cultural significance in many parts of the world, play a major role in global food systems, and are favorites among aquarium enthusiasts.

Salvini cichlid: this is a gorgeous Central American cichlid who will become prettier than this as it approaches 5 1/2 inches long. I prefer keeping these somewhat aggressive cichlids with friends who a re a bit bigger than them.

They can usually hold their ground with bigger cichlids who cannot swallow them whole. Kind of like a pit bull terrier.

Fish generally do not eat fish p**p! You must vacuum your aquarium. Fish p**p that remains in your aquarium will create ammonia which is harmful to fish.
