The Humane Society of Greenwood is a 501(c)3 not-for-profit animal welfare agency comprised of staff and volunteers. The HSOG is not funded by the Humane Society of the United States (HSUS), ASPCA, or any other national animal welfare agency. The HSOG is supported by donations and funding from Greenwood County to manage the Greenwood County Animal Shelter. Under contract with Greenwood County, the

Humane Society of Greenwood’s animal care professionals operate the Greenwood County Animal Shelter, the safety net for any lost, abandoned, or relinquished companion animal in Greenwood County. HSOG staff promote adoptions of shelter animals at the Adoption Center and at off-site adoption events, as well as work strategically with out-of-area rescue groups who adopt animals from the Shelter and re-home in areas outside Greenwood. We are transport partners with Spartanburg’s Animal Allies Low-Cost Spay/Neuter clinic. is a pick-up point for transport from Animal Allies so area pet owners can take advantage of the low-cost services. Preventing unwanted litters is the most effective way of reducing euthanasia at the animal shelter. We coordinate and participate in community outreach through: 1) presentations to schools and civic organizations, 2) media (HSOG website, Facebook, local news outlets, radio), and 3) fund raising events.

⭐Foster Feature: Noel!⭐

Sweet, smart, and the ultimate cuddle companion—Noel is ready to steal your heart!

🫶 Her foster says: Noel is 100% potty trained (not a single accident since arriving!), minds her manners beautifully, and is as gentle as they come. She’s quiet—barely barks at all—and listens right away when told “no,” “come here,” or “go lie down.” She’s the kind of dog who just gets it.

Noel loves her toys—especially her Nylabone, Kong, and rope toy—and while she’s playful, she’s just as happy snuggled up next to you. She enjoys walks (though she’s still learning not to lead the way!) and is super friendly with every dog, adult, and child she’s met. No cat encounters yet, but she’s shown nothing but good manners and a loving spirit.

Whether it’s chasing a ball (she’s still working on the return part!), tugging her rope, or just lounging by your side, Noel brings joy and calm wherever she goes. She’d thrive in a home with other dogs or kids to play with—but she’s equally content just hanging out with her people.

Noel is still in her foster home but is available for meet-and-greets—just message or call us to set one up!

Jersey and Jackson are 6 years old and a bonded pair. Their owner sadly passed away, and they have never been away from each other.

We are looking for a forever home for both of them so they can stay together and thrive in happiness. They are potty trained and can become ✨spicy✨ when separated from one another, so someone with knowledge of how little dogs can be is a must! They love to lay on the couch or play with toys. They walk well on a harness.
