Meet Draco, the handsome 7-year-old retriever mix. Seniors are the best! ALSO, DRACO'S ADOPTION FEE IS FULLY SPONSORED!!
From his foster mom: "He doesn’t jump or lick much. Has been great with the kids. Likes to play and take walks. Still needs work on proper leash walking. Reactive to dogs and cats but always wagging his tail so I think he wants to play, but he does bark and have a high prey drive. Knows sit and fetch. He’s a big baby."
Draco is currently in a foster home, so if you would like to meet him, please call 223-2498 to set up a meet and greet.
We had 5 adoptions today: dogs Ducky (brown and white pitty with the blue-haired girl!), Daffodil (white and brown hound mix), Lee (Chihuahua) and Magnus (shepherd mix with the cone of shame!) and one kitty, Sabastian (not pictured).
Thank you to all of these loving people for welcoming these animals into their families!
How about a couple adoption updates to make your day better?
#1 Arya (dog): "Arya wants to tell you all Happy Valentine's Day. She is spoiled rotten. She loves car rides, and she still loves tearing up tennis balls. She brings us so much happiness, and we want to thank you again for letting us adopt her!!"
#2 Elle (kitty): "Thank you all so much for Elle, The Princess. She is making herself at home and finding her way around the house. Lily and Prissy are a little confused but aren't bothering her. She has climbed to the second level of her cat tower. I was afraid she would fall, but she hasn't . We are enjoying her so much. She was meant for us. Thank you again."
There are so many kids out there with such great hearts! Thank you, Olivia Ashley, for collecting and donating these blankets. The animals will LOVE them!
We had 3 adoptions today: Boots, our Pet of the Week kitty (who didn't want his picture taken! Ha!), Freddy (the orange and white kitty), and Wrinkles (the handsome white and tabby kitty). Thank you, everyone! Now, tomorrow, let's make it about the dogs!!

If you are looking for a well mannered, adorable, larger 4 legged companion then you may love Mama. She knows basic commands like sit and lay. She seems to like other dogs that are also calm and know how to stay in their own space (high energy dogs are not so much for her). She is completely house broken and only chews on her toys. She loves hiking and will even jog beside you while you ride your bike. Mama is in a foster home but she is looking for her forever home! If you are interested in meeting her, please contact our placement services coordinator at 864-538-0683 or [email protected]
UPDATE: Boots has been adopted!!
Boots and Buddy! (Sounds like the title for a Disney movie.) These are your two Pets of the Week and their adoption fees have been sponsored by Graham and Debbie Smith. Visit them both at the Humane Society Adoption Center at 2820 Airport Road in Greenwood, Tuesday through Saturday, 12p to 5p.
Buddy It’s the month of love, and what better way to fill your heart (and home) with happiness than by adding a sweet, funny, affectionate pooch. And believe us when we say Buddy fits the bill. This handsome little devil is just over a year old, so essentially still a puppy, full of playful energy...
Look who is at PetSmart until 4pm today! Blackjak, Mama and Buddy!
Look who got adopted today! Newton (kitty facing the camera), Ellie (kitty REFUSING to face the camera! Ha!), and Daphne (the adorable pup)! Thank you to all of these loving families!
Mushu is pet of the week with all his adoption fees waived until Saturday at 5:00PM. He’s a super sweet boy who loves to play and get all the cuddles.
Mushu is pet of the week!
We had four adoptions today: Dogs Pumpkin (German Shepherd) and Kisses (the cutest puppy in the WORLD!), as well as two kitties, Buttercup and Jacob (sorry, we couldn't get pictures)! Thank you to all of these loving families!
Our apologies for the pause in adoption updates, but hopefully, we're back on track! Here are several we think you'll enjoy!
#1: Croissant (brindle puppy): "Croissant is loving his new home!! His new name is Rocky!"
#2: Zoey (long-haired gray kitty): "Wanted to let you know how Zoey is doing !! We love her so much !! Such a loving and playful kitty !! We have spoiled her with stuffed Rats with catnip !! She plays with them all day and night !! She will bring one to bed with US !! So glad we were able to give her a good Forever Home !!"
#3: Chloe (calico kitty): "Chloe renamed Lovey"
#4: Vincent (tan and white dog): "It's been one year since we adopted Vincent (formerly Wallace). The once scared mistrustful fella has become such a loving happy fella. He walks well on leash and happily explores his world, barely leaving a tuft of grass unsmelled and unmarked. LOL. We can't let him run free because of some free-range dogs in the neighborhood, but he plays a mean game of fetch inside with us and with himself."
We had 3 adorable adoptions yesterday! Conway (little Chihuahua puppy), Creamsicle (our Pet of the Week kitty!), and wait for it, wait for it...Layla!!!!! Yes, that is the sweet, ever-loved Layla being adopted by her new dad, who was at least as excited as we were! Thank you to everyone!
We want to send out ANOTHER big thank you to Chip and Kristi Rush for donating this table full of pet supplies from their newly acquired business, Hobby and Garden Center! Thank you for thinking of us!
UPDATE: Creamsicle has been adopted!!
This week's Pets of the Week are Mushu and Creamsicle! Both of their adoption fees are sponsored by Graham and Debbie Smith. Visit them both Tuesday through Saturday, 12p to 5p, at 2820 Airport Road, Greenwood. Click on the link for information about them: http://www.gwdhumanesociety.org/event/pets-of-the-week-february-3-2020-mushu-and-creamsicle/
Look at these handsome dogs! They all found new homes today! Congratulations Coffee (black and white dog with the little boy), Fergus (cream and white pooch), and Hercules (fabulous fellow with the little girls))!
The wonderful staff and customers from the Greenwood and Coronaca One Stops continue to show their love for the animals! Thank you so much for collecting and bringing us all the food, blankets, treats, and more.
And the ladies got to love on an adorable pup while they were here!
Thank you to Wesley Commons for inviting us over yesterday to let some of our pups hang out with the residents! Everyone, dogs and people alike, seemed to have a good time!
Many thanks to SAVEDOG.org as well as OPH (Operation Paws for Homes) AND our dedicated staff for working together once again to get another 5 dogs on their way to new loving homes!
Look who got adopted today: Punky! Isn't she photogenic? And so is her mom!
We had 6 adoptions over the last two days. Unfortunately, we weren't able to get a lot of pictures. But here are a couple adorable ones. Thank you to everyone who has chosen to add a new furry family member to their homes!
Those pictured are Panini and Penny (our Pet of the Week!). Also adopted were dogs Vanessa, Ruby, and Judd (now Hercules), and kitty Chowder.
Everyone meet Batilda. She has been looking for her forever home since October and would love to meet you! Batilda can be dog selective at times, so it would be best to be an only dog household. Whether it be a forever home, or just a temporary one, getting out of the shelter would make her a very happy girl ❤️
We are desperately looking for a foster for Jack. He's a great dog who was outdoors all his life and just isn't doing good in a kennel setting. We have been working with him everyday to try and get him comfortable, but he needs a temporary home out of the shelter to fully get to his amazing potential. We are looking for a home that will allow him to be outside, but to also get the hands on attention that he needs.Preferably a house with no children, as it may be too much for him at this time.
UPDATE: Both Dalton and Penny have been adopted!
What a great way to start the week! Dalton has already been adopted! Precious Penny is available and you can visit her Tuesday through Saturday, 12p to 5p, at 2820 Airport Road, Greenwood Her adoption fees are sponsored by Graham and Debbie Smith!
Dalton Are you a sucker for a hound? Do you love that boundless energy, sweet but goofy disposition, and tendency to find joy in every situation? If so, you need to meet Dalton. This dashing fellow is right around a year old, so he’s basically a big puppy – about 50 pounds of silly,
Here a special adoption update for you. Do you remember Sadie, the dog found at the Greenwood State Park back in August?
"Wanted to send an update on Sadie, the Greenwood State Park baby. She has given us a wild time since we got her. She got loose, ran off and went to Lake Murray. A family took care of her until they could pet her and took her and had her chip scanned and returned her to us. She is now the spoiled inside baby we wanted her to be. She loves her toys, our two other dogs and loves our grandchildren. She has so much personality and we love her!"
We had 4 adoptions today: Alfie (cat at PetSmart - not pictured), Dalton (red hound), Gabby (little cutie with the boy), and STELLA! Yes, Stella went to a new home with a lovely young couple! And we forgot to post one from last week. Oops! Sorry, Maverick (blue healer mix), we are delighted for you as well!
