The Humane Society of Greenwood is a 501(c)3 not-for-profit animal welfare agency comprised of staff and volunteers. The HSOG is not funded by the Humane Society of the United States (HSUS), ASPCA, or any other national animal welfare agency. The HSOG is supported by donations and funding from Greenwood County to manage the Greenwood County Animal Shelter. Under contract with Greenwood County, the

Humane Society of Greenwood’s animal care professionals operate the Greenwood County Animal Shelter, the safety net for any lost, abandoned, or relinquished companion animal in Greenwood County. HSOG staff promote adoptions of shelter animals at the Adoption Center and at off-site adoption events, as well as work strategically with out-of-area rescue groups who adopt animals from the Shelter and re-home in areas outside Greenwood. We are transport partners with Spartanburg’s Animal Allies Low-Cost Spay/Neuter clinic. is a pick-up point for transport from Animal Allies so area pet owners can take advantage of the low-cost services. Preventing unwanted litters is the most effective way of reducing euthanasia at the animal shelter. We coordinate and participate in community outreach through: 1) presentations to schools and civic organizations, 2) media (HSOG website, Facebook, local news outlets, radio), and 3) fund raising events.

🐾 Meet Snoop! 🐾
Snoop is a 7-year-old brindle boy who’s both friendly and playful. He has been with us, looking for his forever home, for over 2 months now. He promises he won’t take up much space — just a cozy spot for him and his piggy toy will do. He’s ready to finally find his family and enjoy all the love and fun that comes with it.

🐾 Meet Gabby! 🐾
Gabby is a sweet girl who doesn’t quite understand why she isn’t living in a home anymore. She loves people and absolutely adores being petted. Ever since she arrived, she’s been peeking out from her blankey, hoping someone will notice her gentle heart. She’s also a very clean kitty who keeps her kennel neat. Gabby just wants a safe place to feel loved again — somewhere she can call home.

🤝 This grant will help with enrichment, medical care and supplies, food and treats, and adoption preparations. Support like this allows us to continue meeting the needs of the animals in our care and helps us uphold our mission.

Meet Mama! Perfectly named because she is the very definition of a great mom! This sweet girl was living on her own on the south side of Greenwood, visiting Ms. Anne's Fried Chicken every day to collect scraps, and carrying them half a mile into the woods to her 6 beautiful, healthy babies. She and her babies were rescued by a concerned citizen when the temperature started dropping, and brought to the Humane Society of Greenwood, SC. Her babies immediately were adopted, but sweet mama is still looking for a family that will love her and keep her safe. She is dog friendly, loves people, and is house broken and crate trained. She is currently in a foster home, but desperately needs a family of her own. This girl has given her all for the babies who needed her, and now she needs our help. Please consider bringing this sweet girl into your family and heart this holiday season
